Mercedes W221 EIS/ELV to 16-pin OBD2 adapter cable
The Mercedes W221 EIS/ELV to 16-pin OBD2 adapter cable is a highly specialized diagnostic and programming adapter that is not intended for standard OBD2 vehicle diagnostics. Instead, this cable is designed to make a direct connection to the EIS (Elektronischer Zündschalter) or ELV (Elektronische Lenkungsverriegelung) modules when they are removed from the vehicle.
This so-called “on-bench” programming cable allows the module to be powered on the workbench and to communicate directly with advanced programming and key tools. The cable bypasses the rest of the vehicle, which is crucial for tasks such as key programming, data modification, or "virginizing" used modules.
Application and functionality:
This cable is intended for professional use in combination with tools such as CGDI MB, Autel IM608, Xhorse VVDI and similar systems. Applications include:
- Key programming: Adding new keys or deactivating lost keys
- Module replacement: Reading data and transferring it to a new or used EIS/ELV
- Repair and testing: Testing the functionality of the EIS/ELV without the vehicle
- Data extraction: Reading/writing EEPROM and flash data
