The Jaltest JDC617A is the adapter cable for Mercury engines from the SmartCraft G3 generation with the manufacturer's proprietary 10-pin ECU connector; this connector is located on the engine side, while the interface side features the 16-pin OBD2 connection for the Jaltest Link. The connection point is located at the engine, under the hood or in the engine compartment. Mercury used a different diagnostic connector for each electronics generation: In addition to this G3 version, our catalog includes the 4-pin (JDC603A), the 2-pin (JDC614A9), and the 10-pin MEFI 1-4 (JDC604.9).
With this connection, Jaltest diagnostic equipment reads both control modules of the G3 system: The engine control unit PCM G3, identified in the coverage by the power rating such as PCM-112 G3 and PCM-196 G3, and the DTS G3, the electronic throttle and shift control. The coverage difference lies between these two: On the engine control module you get fault codes, component tests, parameters, calibration and maintenance reset, while on the DTS G3 it's limited to live data, ECU information and calibration. G3 electronics are found on both outboard motors and inboard installations, allowing you to use this cable in both applications. The cable falls under Jaltest Marine.

Through this connection, you can access the control units of the G3 system using Jaltest software.
Control units you can access
- PCM G3 — engine control: The engine electronic control system, listed in the coverage by engine type, for example PCM-112 G3 on the 300 Verado V8 and PCM-196 G3 on the 600 Verado V12. This is the control unit with the full feature set.
- DTS G3 — digital throttle and shift: The electronic throttle and shift control. Jaltest reads live data, ECU information, and calibration from this unit, but not fault codes.
What you can do
- Read fault codes: Retrieve the fault memory from the engine control unit, with detailed descriptions of detected faults.
- View live data: Monitor current sensor readings from both the engine control unit and the DTS G3.
- Run active tests: Perform active diagnostics on the engine control unit, including cylinder balance and cylinder cutout tests.
- Adjust parameters and calibration: Modify engine control settings and perform DTS G3 calibration.
- Reset service reminders: Clear the service interval counter on the engine control unit after maintenance.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type is what matters, not the model. This cable works with any Mercury outboard engine equipped with the 10-pin ECU connector from the SmartCraft G3 generation. The models listed below are covered by Jaltest Marine; verify which connector your specific engine has on-site.
