The Jaltest JDC603A is the adapter cable that converts the proprietary 4-pin diagnostic connector found on Mercury marine engines to the standard 16-pin OBD2 port on your Jaltest Link diagnostic interface. On the engine side, the 4-pin connector plugs directly into the motor bay; on the interface side, the cable connects to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. Mercury uses the same 4-pin connector on both outboard motors and MerCruiser inboard engines, so you can use this cable for either application.
Through this adapter, your diagnostic equipment connects to the onboard network and gains access to the engine control modules PCM-555, ECM-555, ECM-70 G3 and the ECM DFI found on Optimax engines, as well as the control electronics: the DTS G3 for digital throttle and shift control and the TVM G3 for autopilot steering. The PCM and ECM modules offer full function access, while Jaltest does not read fault codes from the DTS G3. This cable is part of the Jaltest Marine product line.

- PCM-555 and PCM-555 G3 — engine control: The engine electronic control system for Verado and Optimax engines, including fault codes, measurement values, component control, parameters, calibration, reset and live data.
- ECM-555, ECM-555 G3 and ECM-70 G3 — engine control: The control units for Fourstroke engines, with the same comprehensive feature set.
- ECM DFI — engine control: The direct injection control for Optimax engines, with fault codes, measurement values, component control and live data.
- DTS G3 — digital throttle and shift control: The digital throttle and shift module, with measurement values, calibration and live data.
- TVM G3 — course control: The course control system, with fault codes and live data.
What You Can Do
- Read fault codes: Access the fault memory of the engine and course control systems, with detailed descriptions of detected faults.
- View measurement values and monitor live data: Track actual sensor readings in real time while the engine is running.
- Control components: Directly command actuators in the engine control system.
- Parameters, calibration and reset: On PCM and ECM control units; calibration is also available on the DTS G3.
Compatible Vessels and Applications
The connector type determines compatibility, not the model. This cable fits any Mercury engine with the 4-pin diagnostic connector, whether outboard or inboard. Jaltest Marine covers the series listed below; check your engine on-site to confirm which connector you have.

- Fourstroke Series: Outboard motors from 15 to 300 hp, including Jet Fourstroke models
- Verado Series: Outboard motors from 135 to 600 hp
- Optimax Series: Outboard motors from 75 to 250 hp
- Pro XS and Pro Max: Outboard motors from 115 to 250 hp
- SeaPro Series: Outboard motors from 15 to 500 hp
- MerCruiser Inboard: Including the 4.3, 5.0, 5.7, 6.2, 7.4, 8.1 and 8.2 MPI and MAG versions, the 496 MAG, Scorpion and Vazer engines
