The Jaltest JDC528A is the adapter cable that connects the 8-pin diagnostic connector of stationary Volvo Penta-engines with a standard 16-pin OBD2-interface. On the engine side, there's the 8-pin connector that connects to or next to the motor, and on the interface side, the 16-pin OBD2 port for the Jaltest Link. Volvo Penta uses different diagnostic connectors depending on the engine generation and application.
This cable routes the communication lines through to the Jaltest Link, enabling direct communication with the control units. This gives the diagnostic equipment access to the engine management systems EMS V3, EMS V4 and EDC and up to the ACM V3 and ACM V4 of the exhaust aftertreatment system. Engine control functions include reading data as well as component actuation, parameter adjustment, calibration and reset; ACM units lack calibration capability. The cable falls under Jaltest Marine.

Control Units You Can Access
- EMS V3 — engine control: The Engine Management System unit with the most comprehensive feature set: fault codes, live data, component actuation, parameters, calibration, and reset. You can also read the serial number, software version, and manufacturer reference here.
- EMS V4 — engine control: The newer version with the same capabilities.
- EDC — engine control: Electronic Diesel Control, with fault codes, live data, component actuation, parameters, calibration, and reset.
- ACM V3 and ACM V4 — exhaust aftertreatment: The Aftertreatment Control Module, with fault codes, live data, component actuation, parameters, and reset.
What You Can Do
- Read fault codes: Access the fault memory of the engine control and aftertreatment systems, with detailed descriptions of detected faults.
- View live data and monitor in real time: Track current sensor readings live as the engine runs.
- Actuate components: Control actuators directly on both the EMS and EDC units as well as the ACM.
- Parameters and reset: Adjust parameters and reset counters on all four control units.
- Calibration: Available only on the engine control units (EMS V3, EMS V4, and EDC), not on the ACM.
