The Jaltest JDC527A is the diagnostic cable for Volvo Penta marine engines; it connects the 6-pin connector to the 16-pin OBD2 port on your Jaltest diagnostic device. The connector is part of the engine and sits in the engine bay, on or next to the block. Over the years, Volvo Penta has used various diagnostic connectors; this is the 6-pin version.
Through this adapter, your diagnostic equipment accesses the engine network and reaches two control units: the engine control module EDC1 and the display panel EDC CP. The difference between the two determines what you see: Jaltest reads fault codes and live data from the engine control module, while the display panel provides only system information. This cable is part of Jaltest Marine.

Through this connection, you access the engine control units with Jaltest software.
Control units you can access
- EDC1, engine control: The Electronic Diesel Control of the engine. Read fault codes and measured values from here.
- EDC CP, control panel: The electronic module of the panel. Jaltest reads system data from it, but not fault codes.
What you can do
- Read fault codes: Access the fault memory of the engine control unit, with descriptions of detected faults.
- View measured values: The current readings from sensors connected to the engine control unit.
- Live monitoring: Track values in real time while the engine is running — including on the control panel.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type determines compatibility, not the engine model. This version is for the 6-pin connection. The Jaltest Marine coverage includes the inboard engines listed below; check on site which connector your engine has.

- IPS-series: IPS 350 through IPS 1350
- TAMD-series: TAMD72P, 73P, 74C, 74L, 74P and 75P
