The Autel MX-Sensor 433MHZ (Aluminum) is a direct TPMS sensor designed for continuous monitoring of tire pressure and temperature in the wheel. This sensor operates at a frequency of 433 MHz and is suitable for use in a wide range of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, mainly targeting the European market. The sensor functions as a programmable replacement solution for defective original equipment (OE) sensors and uses a screw-in, aluminum valve stem (screw-in/clamp-in) for a mechanically secure connection to the rim.

The sensor accurately measures internal air pressure and temperature and transmits this data via an RF signal to the vehicle's receiver module. For proper operation, the module communicates using a unique sensor ID. This identification code can be wirelessly generated or exactly cloned from an existing sensor using an Autel TPMS programmer. When the original sensor ID is cloned, the vehicle's ECU immediately recognizes the sensor, making an OBD or driving learning process unnecessary. During use, the sensor is activated by rotation, after which it sends data at fixed intervals to provide the vehicle system with current measurements.

ATTENTION POINTS

Only programmable and activatable with a compatible Autel TPMS diagnostic tool.
Operates only at 433 MHz, making it unsuitable for vehicles (often American imports) that communicate via 315 MHz.
Aluminum valves are more susceptible to galvanic corrosion in winter; regular maintenance is required.
Always requires an external programming step before the sensor has a protocol and ID to function in the vehicle.

Applications and functionalities

The sensor is designed to replace defective original sensors and continuously collects relevant wheel data for the vehicle system.

  • Tire pressure measurement: Measures the current static and dynamic air pressure in the tire with a range of 0 to 800 kPa, then transmits the data for timely warnings of pressure loss.
  • Temperature monitoring: Monitors internal tire temperature between -40°C and +125°C. This allows the TPMS to apply temperature compensation to the pressure reading and warn of impending overheating.
  • Acceleration detection (G-sensor): Measures radial forces to determine if the vehicle is moving. This controls switching between energy-saving sleep mode and active transmission mode to conserve battery.

Special features and capabilities

This universal sensor has specific technical features that support the calibration and installation process in the workshop.

  • Wireless ID cloning: Via the 125 kHz wake-up signal, the sensor can wirelessly communicate with the TPMS tool to copy the exact hexadecimal identification code of the OE sensor to be replaced. This bypasses the OBD learning procedure on the vehicle.
  • Modular valve system: The electronic sensor module is separated from the valve by a screw connection. This allows replacing only the aluminum valve in case of minor mechanical damage without discarding the sensor electronics.

Good to know: The aluminum screw valve must be tightened during installation with a calibrated torque wrench to exactly 4.0 Nm. Failure to maintain this torque can lead to sealing issues or valve stem breakage.
