The Topdon V2200Plus is a professional battery booster and battery tester in one, designed for mechanics and diagnostic technicians. This device delivers a peak current of 2200A and is suitable for starting 12V vehicles with gasoline engines up to 8.0 liters and diesel engines up to 6.0 liters. Thanks to the internal battery capacity of 16000mAh (59.2Wh), the device can perform up to 35 start attempts on a full charge. The booster is optimized for starting and testing virtually all standard 12V lead-acid batteries used in vehicle technology and roadside assistance.

In addition to the regular starting function, this battery booster also serves as a diagnostic system thanks to the Bluetooth-equipped starting clamps, which allow charging tests, starting tests, and CCA measurements to be performed via an app. The system is protected by six safety systems, including protection against reverse polarity, short circuit, overload, and extreme temperatures. Power supply runs through a bidirectional USB-C PD60W port, and the device features multiple connections, including two USB-A QC18W ports and a 16.8V DC output. Additionally, the unit is equipped with indicators on the housing and an integrated LED work light.

Applications and functionalities

The battery booster is equipped with specific functions for safely starting and technically analyzing 12V vehicle systems.

  • Jumpstart function: Provides a controlled starting current to start engines with a dead battery, with sufficient reserve capacity for multiple consecutive start attempts on a single charge.
  • Bluetooth Battery Test: The smart starting clamps are equipped with a Bluetooth module that wirelessly communicates with a smartphone to measure the internal resistance, charging voltage, and cold cranking amperage (CCA) of the battery.
  • Boost mode: A manual override function that, after pressing the button for one second, delivers a direct power boost for 30 seconds. This is required to successfully start batteries with an almost 0V voltage.
  • Power bank functionality: Enables powering or charging external diagnostic equipment or electronics via the integrated USB-A, USB-C, and DC ports.

  • Comprehensive test report: The application records the test data of the 12V system in real-time in graphs. This data can then be exported as a digital report for workshop documentation or handover to the customer.
  • Bidirectional 60W fast charging: The USB-C port functions as both input and output, allowing the internal battery pack to be quickly charged (with a suitable charger) while simultaneously providing fast power to external devices.
  • Integrated LED work light: A built-in flashlight with a light output of 300 lumens, featuring three different light modes (continuous, strobe, and SOS) for safely connecting clamps in poorly lit engine compartments.

Once the battery was charged, I tested the booster on a car with a cold 2-liter gasoline engine and a completely dead battery. It worked smoothly. Immediately after, I tried it again, and it worked smoothly again. Haven't tested the rest yet (the app and all the features you can use with it). The downside is that no charger for the battery was included, and a second downside is that the extremely brief manual (that's a third downside) doesn't explain what charger is suitable for charging it. A regular 5V charger doesn't work at all (which I don't find strange for a 12V battery), so I eventually took a chance and bought a multivolume charger (with QC and PD) and charging on the QC output worked great, fully charged within a few hours. The upsides are: nice handy carry case and low weight. And I hope with this (but we'll see) to have acquired a solid and reliable product with a long lifespan.
