\nThe Topdon TopScan Pro update licence extends your right to software-updatesfor the TopScan Pro withone year. The TopScan Pro is a dongle that transforms your smartphone or tablet into a diagnostic tool, compatible with more than sixty vehicle brands. The device encodesonline at Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda, controls actuators directly and provides a repair database along with user manuals, fault code analysis and technical bulletins. For the duration of the licence, every new software version via update menu of the device itself.\n
\nWhen placing your order, please provide the serial number of your TopScan Pro; this is mandatory. You will then receive the update licence via email, typically within one business day, and enters the code in the update menu of the device. With this model, an extension goes beyond mere updates. The paid features such as clearing fault codes, live data, service procedures and actuator control depend on a current licence; reading out data continues to work without a licence. When the licence expires, the TopScan Pro continues to operate on the most recently installed version, but installing new versions will no longer be possible.\n

Applications and functionality
An active licence covers three components of the TopScan Pro. These are the vehicle coverage, the function files and the online services. Below is what a renewal provides and what happens if you do not renew.
What a renewal provides you with
- New vehicle coverage: Brands, models and model years added after your last update become available within the existing diagnostic functions.
- Extended service functions: Procedures such as oil service and inspection reset, injector coding, diesel particulate filter regeneration, seat calibration and sunroof initialisation continue to support newer vehicles as manufacturers update their systems.
- Coding files: The coding and adaptation procedures follow the modules released by manufacturers.
What happens without renewal
- New software: The update menu no longer delivers new versions; the TopScan Pro remains on the version that was installed at that time.
- Paid features will expire: Clearing fault codes, live data, service procedures, actuator control and key programming will no longer be available without an active licence.
- What remains free: OBD2 engine diagnostics, reading fault codes across all systems and readiness testing will continue to work without a licence.

How does it work in practice?
From order to updated device takes four steps. The serial number is the only thing you need to find yourself.
- Provide serial number: Enter the serial number of your TopScan Pro when placing your order; this is mandatory.
- Receive card: You will receive the renewal card with the code by email, typically within one working day.
- Enter code: Open the update menu on the TopScan Pro and enter the code from the card.
- Install updates: Connect the TopScan Pro to wifi, select the available versions and start the installation.
