The Topdon Phoenix Nano update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for the Phoenix Nano with one year. What the Phoenix Nano can do is determined by the software, not the hardware. The device is an eight-inch diagnostic tablet that connects to the vehicle via a fixed cable rather than a separate interface. The manufacturer provides CAN FD en DoIP in the model name itself, and the device codes online with various European and Asian brands and programmes offline with Ford, Mazda and Opel. An extension gives you a year's access to all new versions released during that period.
The renewal is digital. You will receive a card with a code in your mailbox and enter it directly into the Phoenix Nano itself, in the update menu. Please provide when ordering the serial number from the device, as that field is mandatory. An extension maintains the vehicle coverage, the coding and programming files and the online services.

Applications and functionality
Three key functions on the Phoenix Nano are licence-dependent. The vehicle coverage determines which vehicles the device recognises, the function files determine what it can do with them, and the online services deliver external data.
What a renewal provides
- New vehicle coverage: Brands, models and model years added after your last update become available within existing diagnostic functions.
- Expanded service functions: Procedures such as oil service, electronic parking brake, steering angle sensor, ABS bleeding and diesel particulate filter regeneration continue to work on newer vehicles as manufacturers update their systems.
- Programming Files: The files behind ECU programming are expanded for newer control units.
What happens without renewal
- No updates: New coverage and new procedures no longer reach the device.
- Online functions: Anything the software does not have built-in may stop working afterwards.
- No feature loss: What you can do with the Phoenix Nano today, you'll still be able to do after your licence expires.

How does it work in practice?
The process takes four steps. Allow for some download time if you haven't updated for a year.
