The Topdon Phoenix Lite 2 is an advanced, compact, and powerful Diagnostic Tool, developed for the modern workshop that requires speed, versatility, and reliability. As the latest generation within the Phoenix Lite series, this model offers a significant upgrade in hardware, software, and vehicle coverage. The system combines OE-level diagnosis, bidirectional control, online coding, and an extensive set of maintenance functions in one user-friendly platform.

The core of the system is formed by an 8-inch HD touchscreen tablet with a fast quad-core processor and the stable Android 10 operating system. Communication with vehicles is wireless via the included Phoenix MDCI Lite VCI, which supports modern protocols such as CAN-FD. This guarantees fast and stable vehicle diagnosis, even on the latest models from, among others, General Motors and Ford. The Phoenix Lite 2 comes standard with two years of free software updates, including access to a growing coverage of more than 200 vehicle brands worldwide. After this period, the device continues to function fully on the last installed software version.

Diagnostic functions:

The Phoenix Lite 2 offers extensive diagnostic capabilities at OE level and is suitable for fault analysis, real-time monitoring, and component tests on more than 200 vehicle brands worldwide. The system supports modern protocols and fast data processing via a wireless VCI.

  • Complete system diagnosis (OE-level): Provides in-depth access to all electronic control units in the vehicle, including engine, transmission, ABS, airbag (SRS), body control module (BCM), air conditioning, comfort systems, ADAS, power steering, and more. Supports reading and clearing fault codes with technical description.
  • Active tests (bidirectional control): Sends commands to actuators, relays, or control modules to test component operation in real time, such as activating the fuel pump, controlling the air conditioning clutch, or operating valves and switches. This allows diagnostics to be performed without disassembly.
  • AutoVIN technology: Automatically recognizes the vehicle via the chassis number (VIN) and selects the correct make and model, enabling a quick and error-free start of the diagnostic process.
  • Live datastream: Displays real-time data from sensors and modules in text, graph, or analog format. Supports simultaneous display of up to 12 datastreams in a combined graph view for accurate system comparison and analysis.

Maintenance and service functions:

The Topdon Phoenix Lite 2 supports more than 35 maintenance and reset functions, allowing vehicle systems to be reset, calibrated, or relearned after repair or replacement. These functions are suitable for daily use in universal workshops and are continuously expanded via updates.

  • Oil Service Reset (Service): Resets the service light and maintenance interval after an oil change.
  • Electronic Parking Brake (EPB): Activates or deactivates the electronic handbrake for safe brake maintenance.
  • Battery Management System (BMS): Registers a new Battery in the vehicle system for correct charging strategy.
  • Steering angle sensor (SAS): Calibrates the steering angle sensor after alignment or replacement of steering components.
  • Diesel particulate filter regeneration (DPF): Performs a forced regeneration of the soot filter and clears related fault codes.
  • ABS pump bleeding (ABS): Activates the ABS system to remove air from the brake circuits.
  • TPMS reset: Recognizes and learns new tire pressure sensors after replacement.
  • Throttle body learning (ETC): Recalibrates the throttle position after cleaning or replacement.
  • Injector coding: Programs the identification codes of new injectors for optimal injection.
  • Transmission adaptation (CVT): Resets learning values of automatic transmissions for better shifting behavior.
  • Crankshaft sensor learning (TEC): Relearns the position of the crankshaft after sensor or ECU replacement.
  • AdBlue reset: Resets level measurement and fault codes of the SCR system after refilling or maintenance.
  • Air suspension calibration: Restores ride height settings in vehicles with electronic air suspension.
  • Headlight adjustment (AFS): Calibrates adaptive or steering headlights after replacement or realignment.
  • Start/stop settings: (De)activates the automatic start/stop system depending on preference or system status.
  • Initialize windows and sunroof: Restores automatic functions of electric windows or roof after power loss.
  • Seat occupancy sensor (SRS): Calibrates passenger detection for correct airbag activation.
  • Transport mode: Puts the vehicle in or out of transport mode, for example during delivery or storage.
  • Adjust system language: Changes the language setting in the instrument cluster or infotainment system.
  • Reset air/fuel ratio (A/F): Restores adaptive engine control values for a correct mixture ratio.

Programming and coding functions:

The Phoenix Lite 2 offers powerful coding capabilities for configuring, customizing, and optimizing vehicle modules at OE level. These functions make the Diagnostic Tool particularly suitable for advanced system adjustments without the intervention of brand-specific tools.

  • Advanced ECU coding: Supports recoding of vehicle modules and activating hidden features, such as disabling the start/stop system, adjusting coming-home lighting, or changing locking settings. Additionally, new components can be configured after replacement.
  • Online coding: Uses cloud-based factory data to accurately configure vehicle modules. Support is available for brands such as Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Porsche, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, with coding data loaded directly from the OEM server.
  • Guided functions (VAG): For vehicles within the Volkswagen Group, the system offers step-by-step instructions for complex procedures such as key programming, module adaptation, or system adjustments. This prevents errors and speeds up execution.
  • Important limitation: The Phoenix Lite 2 does not support full ECU programming (flashing). Overwriting ECU software is only possible on models from the Phoenix Smart and Phoenix Max series, which are equipped with J2534 Pass-Thru support.

Cloud and reporting functions:

The system features professional cloud and reporting functions designed to document, share, and centrally manage diagnostic processes – both within the workshop and externally towards customers.

  • Cloud storage and management: All diagnostic reports are automatically saved in the cloud, ensuring they are securely backed up and can be accessed, shared, or exported at any time. Ideal for workshops with multiple users or devices.
  • Professional reports: Generates detailed pre-scan and post-scan reports, including fault codes, vehicle information, and system status. Reports can be fully personalized with workshop data, customer information, and comments, and saved or shared as PDF.
  • Easy sharing and printing: Reports can be directly shared via email from the tablet, or wirelessly printed via Wi-Fi, without the intervention of external software. This makes it possible to give customers direct insight into performed work.

Additional features and special capabilities:

This Diagnostic Tool is equipped with advanced features that make it suitable for modern vehicles, including support for the latest protocols and broad brand coverage.

  • Support for CAN-FD: The included VCI supports CAN-FD (Controller Area Network – Flexible Data Rate), which is required for communication with the latest models from, among others, GM and Ford. This ensures higher data speed and a more stable connection in modern vehicles.
  • FCA AutoAuth access: Provides direct, authorized access to the Secure Gateway (SGW) of vehicles from Fiat, Chrysler, Jeep and Alfa Romeo, provided linked to a valid AutoAuth account. This allows diagnostic and maintenance functions to be fully performed without physical bypass solutions.
  • Extensive vehicle coverage: Supports more than 200 vehicle brands worldwide, including European, Asian, American and even selected supercar brands such as Ferrari, Maserati, Bentley, and Lamborghini. This broad coverage makes the system deployable in virtually any universal or brand-specific workshop.

Optional expansions and modules:

The system is modularly expandable and compatible with various specialist accessories from Topdon. These expansions increase the applicability of the diagnostic tool in diagnosis, maintenance, and visual inspection.

  • ADAS Calibration: Compatible with the Topdon ADAS calibration frames, allowing precise adjustment of camera and radar systems of driver assistance systems (such as Lane Assist and ACC). Requires additional software license and hardware.
