The Topdon EV Software Package is an update license specifically designed for diagnosing and servicing electric vehicles. With this license, users gain access to software extensions that enable their diagnostic scanner to handle work on EV powertrains, battery modules, and other electric vehicle-specific components. The license remains valid for 2 years, during which all available updates and feature expansions within this software package can be downloaded and installed.
Activation is completed using an update card with a 12-digit activation code. Customers log into the corresponding Topdon scanner software or app and manually enter the code through the license or activation menu. Once entered, the EV updates become available on the device. When the 2-year license period expires, the already-installed software continues to function on the scanner, but new EV updates and feature enhancements won't be released until the license is renewed.

The steps below outline the complete process from ordering to activating the EV license on your diagnostic device.
- Place Your Order: The customer orders the Topdon EV Software Package.
- Receive Update Card: After processing, the customer receives the update card with the 12-digit activation code.
- Open the Software: The customer opens the corresponding Topdon software or app on the diagnostic device.
- Enter Code Manually: The customer enters the activation code through the update or license menu in the software.
- Download EV Expansions: After successful code entry, the EV software modules become available and can be installed on the device.
Serial Number Information
To link the license, you'll need the serial number of your Topdon diagnostic device, which is typically located in multiple places on the unit.
- Back of the Device: On most Topdon diagnostic devices, the serial number is printed on a sticker on the back of the unit.
- Software Information Menu: Within the Topdon software or app, you can find the serial number in the system or device information menu.
- VCI Module (if applicable): For tablet-based kits with a separate VCI module, the serial number may be printed directly on the VCI module itself.
