The Autool SDT208 is a professional Smoke Tester designed for detecting leaks in various closed vehicle systems. The device uses smoke generation through combustion in an oxygen-poor environment, producing fast and dense smoke from mineral test oil. The smoke machine features an integrated air compressor and supports an adjustable working pressure up to 35 psi in standard mode, with a specifically limited pressure under 10 psi for EVAP applications. The system is equipped with a direct power supply compatible with both 12V and 24V vehicle batteries. This leak detection is widely applicable for pressure testing and visual inspection of intake paths, turbo systems, exhaust systems, and fuel vapor return systems.
During the diagnostic procedure, the smoke injection starts as soon as the unit is connected to the circuit to be tested via a specific Adapter. The pressure control and airflow are precisely managed through the integrated flow meter with adjustment knob and the analog pressure gauge on the front panel. This allows a technician to directly read a pressure drop, indicating a fault, even before smoke flows through the system. For the final leak visualization, the machine fills the closed circuit with dense smoke, after which escaping vapor marks the exact location of cracks, faulty seals, or porous hoses. The separate switches for air and smoke production make practical operation safer: the system can first be tested with compressed air only to establish basic integrity, after which the smoke generator is activated for exact leak location.

- Leak detection in intake and exhaust systems: Locating hairline cracks, faulty gaskets, or loose hose clamps by pressurizing the system and filling it with smoke.
- Crankcase ventilation system (PCV) check: Detecting vacuum leaks in the engine block and associated ventilation hoses to diagnose irregular idling or mixture problems.
- Turbo system diagnostics: Pressure testing the high-pressure section of the intake path to identify boost leaks around the intercooler and turbo hoses via the standard high-pressure mode.

- Separate test modes (Standard & EVAP): The device is equipped with an EVAP mode with pressure protection (< 10 psi) to prevent damage to sensitive fuel vapor valves, and a standard mode up to 35 psi for systems operating under higher turbo pressure.
- Independent control of air and smoke: Thanks to separate activation buttons for the internal pump and the heating resistor, the technician can first perform a 'dry' pressure test. If pressure loss is detected on the gauge, the smoke is then activated.
- Analog measuring instruments with flow control: A continuously adjustable flow meter (up to 15 L/min) combined with an accurate pressure gauge allows the user to precisely adjust both the applied pressure and the volume flow to the component being tested, enabling detection of leaks as small as 0.5 mm.
