Autool SDT208 | Smoke Tester
The Autool SDT208 is a smoke tester designed for detecting leaks in various vehicle piping systems. The device operates on a 12V or 24V DC power supply and features a built-in air pump, eliminating the need for an external compressed air source. The SDT208 can generate an adjustable output pressure from less than 0.7 Bar (10 psi) to 2.4 Bar (35 psi) and has a maximum smoke output of less than 15 liters per minute. The smoke generation is based on the principle of low oxygen combustion.
The device is equipped with multiple test modes, including a specific EVAP mode for checking low-pressure systems and a standard mode for high-pressure systems. Visual inspection is enabled by an integrated pressure and flow meter, allowing direct reading of pressure and flow in the tested system. The smoke tester is supplied with a comprehensive set of adapters and plugs to make various connections on intake, exhaust, fuel, and crankcase systems.
Application and functionality:
The SDT208 is used to detect leaks in sealed systems by filling them with smoke under controlled pressure and flow. The location of a leak becomes visible by the escaping smoke.
- Standard mode: For testing high-pressure piping systems such as intake and exhaust systems.
- EVAP mode: For testing low-pressure systems such as the fuel vapor recovery system (EVAP), with a pressure limit to prevent system damage.
- Air mode: Activates only the built-in air pump to pressurize a system without smoke.
- Smoke mode: Activates only the smoke generator.
- Pressure and flow meter: Provides direct visual indication of the pressure in the system and the amount of air or smoke flowing, helping to determine the size of a leak.
