The Julie Airbag & Tacho Testing Emulator is an electronic simulator designed to perform diagnosis and test procedures on airbag (SRS) systems and instrument panels. This emulator enables the simulation of signals from various vehicle components, such as a seat occupancy mat or a tachometer signal. The main application is to verify the correct operation of the relevant control unit (ECU) by providing a known signal, thereby excluding defects in sensors or wiring.

The functionality is compatible with a wide range of vehicle brands through the selection of specific, pre-programmed solutions. Use is intended solely for testing and workshop purposes, for example to check the functionality of the instrument panel on the workbench or to determine the cause of an airbag fault. Permanently deactivating safety systems with the Julie Airbag & Tacho Testing Emulator is not the intended application and may be subject to legal restrictions.


Applications and functionalities:

The Julie Airbag & Tacho Testing Emulator is a multifunctional module designed for diagnosis, repair, and testing of various electronic systems in vehicles. The emulator is used to solve problems related to immobilizer, steering column lock, airbag systems, and instrument panels.

  • Diagnosis and deactivation of immobilizer (IMMO OFF): The module replaces or bypasses the signal of the original immobilizer. This allows the engine to be started when the IMMO module or the transponder key is defective, for diagnostic purposes or as a permanent solution after ECU adjustment.
    • VAG Group: Audi, Seat, Skoda, Volkswagen (TDI, FSI, TFSI engines)
    • Fiat Group: Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia
    • PSA Group: Citroen, Peugeot
    • Other brands: BMW, Chrysler, Daewoo, GMS, Honda, Kia, Hyundai, Mercedes, Opel, Renault, Suzuki, Yamaha
  • Replacement of electronic steering column lock (ESL/ELV): The emulator simulates a properly functioning ESL/ELV module. This resolves starting problems caused by a defective or locked steering column lock.
    • Mercedes-Benz: W204, W207, W212
    • BMW: E-series (E81, E87, E90, E93, E60, E61, E63, E64), F-series (via CAS), Mini (R55, R56)
    • Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge: Models with the W204 steering column lock
    • Renault: Clio III/IV, Megane II/III, Laguna II/III
  • Simulation of passenger seat occupancy sensor (Airbag): The module simulates the signal of an occupied or unoccupied passenger seat. This is used to deactivate the airbag warning light that illuminates due to a defective sensor mat, without affecting the functionality of the other airbag components.

  • Instrument panel testing (Tacho): The emulator can generate signals to check the operation of the needles and indicator lights on the instrument panel (tacho). This is useful for diagnosing faults in the cluster itself.

  • Signal simulation: The emulator generates specific digital and analog signals identical to those of the original vehicle components, such as the IMMO transponder, ESL/ELV motor, or seat occupancy mat.
  • Fault isolation: By temporarily replacing a suspect component with the emulator, a technician can definitively determine whether the original part is the cause of the malfunction.
  • Program selection via jumpers: The desired function and vehicle compatibility are selected by soldering jumpers on the circuit board according to the supplied technical documentation.
  • Wide compatibility: The module is designed to work with a large number of brands, models, and types of engine control units (ECU), increasing usability in a workshop.
  • Data adjustment: For certain applications, especially with IMMO systems of BMW (CAS), it is possible to write specific vehicle data such as the Individual Serial Number (ISN) to the memory of the emulator.
