The Autel Kia 20-pin to 16-pin OBD2 adapter is specifically developed to connect older Kia vehicles to modern diagnostic equipment. This compact Adapter links the model-specific rectangular 20-pin diagnostic port, commonly found in pre-OBD2 era vehicles, to the universal 16-pin connector of the diagnostic tester.

The internal circuit of the Adapter ensures correct pin-to-pin mapping between the proprietary vehicle connector and the diagnostic device interface. This enables stable signal transmission and communication with older vehicle networks and control units. The Adapter is made from high-quality plastic and is designed to withstand intensive workshop use, with the fit guaranteeing a reliable connection without signal loss.

ADVANTAGES

Original Autel design for seamless integration with Autel diagnostic systems.
Compact housing without cables, eliminating the risk of cable breakage.
Specific fit for the Kia 20-pin diagnostic connector.
Robust construction suitable for daily workshop use.

KEY POINTS

Only suitable for older Kia models with the rectangular OBD1 connector.
Requires diagnostic software that supports older communication protocols.
The diagnostic port on these models is often located under the hood, not inside the cabin.

Applications and functionalities

This adapter allows communication between the vehicle-specific connector and universal diagnostic equipment. The adapter functions as a passive pin converter.

  • Physical interface conversion: Converts the Kia-specific 20-pin connector to a standard 16-pin OBD2 female connector.
  • Access to vehicle systems: Enables communication with ECUs such as engine, transmission, and ABS on older vehicles.
  • Error code analysis: Supports reading and clearing fault codes (DTCs) via compatible diagnostic testers.
  • Compatibility: Designed for use with the Autel MaxiSys, MaxiDAS, and MaxiCheck series (when used with the main module).

Compatible vehicles and applications

This Adapter is suitable for Kia vehicles produced approximately between 1996 and 2004 that are not yet equipped with the standardized 16-pin EOBD port but use the Kia 20-pin diagnostic connector.
