The OTOFIX IM2 update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for the IM2 with one year. The IM2 is a key programmer with comprehensive diagnostic and programming capabilities for passenger vehicles. Between software updates, the device itself remains unchanged, whilst the vehicle fleet arriving at your workshop continues to evolve. The device works with the V1 Flash and the XP1 Pro, codes control units online and offline, programmes blank control units and performs key work both via the OBD port and on the bench.

A licence renewal keeps the vehicle profiles, the latest immobiliser procedures and protocol support; the manufacturer indicates that certain functions require an active licence. The licence renewal itself is digital and requires nothing from you except the serial number of the IM2; we link the licence to it, typically within one working day. Without renewal, the device remains functional on the most recently installed version, but no new content is added.

✕A renewal provides software only, not hardware, so the GBOX3 adapter, the key emulator APB112, the IMKPA adapter set and the adapters for DoIP and CAN FD remain available for separate purchase.
✕Downloading requires a stable wifi connection; on a busy guest network, a large update can take considerable time.

What a licence renewal on the IM2 actually does is easiest to understand by dividing the software into three parts. There is the vehicle coverage, there are the function files and there is the online side. All three advance with an active licence.

What a renewal provides

  • New vehicle coverage: Brands, models and model years added after your last update become available within existing diagnostic functions.
  • Expanded service functions: Procedures such as oil service, diesel particulate filter regeneration, injector coding, airbag reset and high-voltage battery service continue to support newer vehicles as manufacturers update their systems.
  • Programming files: The files behind ECU programming are expanded for newer control units.

What happens without renewal

  • New versions: Nothing further is added, including no corrections to software already installed.
  • Online side: Services running through manufacturer servers may become limited or unavailable after expiry.
  • What remains: Everything the device can do at that moment, it will continue to do; the IM2 does not lose value, it simply does not become newer.

How does it work in practice?

In practice, it's four steps and then wait for the download. We only need the serial number from you.

  1. Ordering with serial number: When placing your order, provide the serial number of the IM2; without that number we cannot attach the licence to anything.
  2. Processing: We apply the renewal to your serial number, usually within one working day of your order.
  3. Connect the device: Switch on the IM2, connect it to wifi and leave it on charge whilst the download runs.
  4. Update: Go to the update menu, select the new versions and let the installation proceed.
