The OTOFIX IM1 update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for the IM1 with one year. The IM1 is a key and immobiliser device with comprehensive system diagnostics included. With the supplied XP1 programmer the device reads transponder data, clones and generates keys, and edits EEPROM and MCU memory; via the OBD port it programmes keys on a large portion of the vehicle fleet. As long as the licence is active, every new software version via the update menu on the device itself.

We link the licence to the serial number from your IM1 and process that within one working day; you do not need to register anything yourself. A renewal primarily expands the key and immobiliser files from key learning and immobiliser data reading to adding remote controls, alongside the standard vehicle coverage. When the licence expires, the IM1 continues to work on the last installed version and reading, clearing and live data functions remain available on already supported vehicles, but new versions cannot be installed.

✕Once paired, the licence is tied to that single serial number; transfer to a second device is not possible.

✕Downloading requires a stable WiFi connection; on a busy guest network, a large update can take considerable time.

Applications and functionalities

An active licence covers three components of the IM1. These are the vehicle coverage, the function files and the online services. Below is what a renewal provides and what occurs if you do not renew.

What a renewal provides

New vehicle coverage: Brands, models and model years added after your last update become available within existing diagnostic functions.
Expanded service functions: Procedures such as oil service, electronic parking brake, battery management, steering angle sensor and DPF regeneration continue to support newer vehicles as manufacturers modify their systems.
Key and immobiliser files: The file containing key, transponder and immobiliser procedures grows alongside newer systems.

What happens without renewal

New versions: Nothing further is added, including no corrections to software already installed.
Online side: Services running through manufacturer servers may become limited or unavailable after expiry.
Existing diagnostics: Reading, clearing, live data and active tests on already supported vehicles continue to work normally.

How does it work in practice?

From order to updated device takes four steps. The serial number is the only thing you need to locate yourself.

Provide serial number: When placing your order, provide the serial number of your IM1 so we know which device the licence should be linked to.
Activation: We link the licence to that serial number, typically within one working day.
Prepare the device: Connect the IM1 to the charger and ensure a stable WiFi connection before starting the download.
Install updates: Open the update menu, select the available versions and start the installation.
