The OTOFIX D1 Lite update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for the D1 Lite with one year. The device automatically recognises the vehicle by its VIN and then reads fault codes, live data and control unit information, supported by a fixed set of service procedures. The D1 Lite is a compact diagnostic tablet that reads all systems via the V1 interface, and for this type of work what matters most is whether the device already knows today's vehicle. An active licence is what makes that difference.

A licence renewal keeps the vehicle coverage and the service procedures so that newer model years remain within reach of the D1 Lite. To set this in motion, we only need the serial number of your D1 Lite; we link the licence to it and that is usually within one working day sorted. Afterwards the D1 Lite continues to run on the most recently installed version.

✕Downloading requires a stable wifi connection; on a busy guest network, a large update can take considerable time.

Applications and functionality

What a renewal provides

  • New vehicle coverage: Brands, models and model years added after your last update become available within existing diagnostic functions.
  • Expanded service functions: Procedures such as oil service, electronic parking brake, steering angle sensor, battery management and DPF reset continue to support newer vehicles as manufacturers modify their systems.
  • Corrections and improvements: Bug fixes, faster routines and corrected procedures in the software itself arrive through the same updates.

What happens without renewal

  • New versions: Nothing further is added, including no corrections to software already installed.
  • Online side: Services running through manufacturer servers may become limited or unavailable after expiry.
  • Unchanged: Diagnosis on vehicles the device already recognises remains unaffected by licence expiry.

How does it work in practice?

The following four steps describe the entire process. Make sure the D1 Lite remains connected to power during the download. charger is mounted.

  1. Register device: Provide the serial number of your D1 Lite with your order, as the licence will be registered to it.
  2. Proceed: Your renewal is typically registered to the serial number within one working day.
  3. Connect the device: Switch on the D1 Lite, connect it to wifi and keep it on the charger while the download runs.
  4. Complete: Start the installation from the update menu and let the device do the work.
