OTOFIX D1 Car Diagnostic Tool

The OTOFIX D1 is an advanced and user-friendly Diagnostic Tool, developed by Autel, suitable for both professional workshops and serious DIYers. It combines extensive diagnostic functions with a modern Android interface in a compact tablet. Thanks to the included Bluetooth VCI V1, diagnostic and service tasks can be performed wirelessly, providing maximum freedom of movement while working on the vehicle.

The OTOFIX D1 supports modern communication protocols such as CAN-FD and DoIP, allowing even the newest vehicles with complex networks to be read out without problems. The system runs on Android 9.0, is equipped with a quad-core processor, 2 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage, and features a bright 7-inch touchscreen for intuitive operation. Standard is two years of free software updates included. After this period, the device remains fully functional on the last installed software version, but an annual license is required for new updates and access to cloud-based features.

Diagnostic functions:

Thanks to Autel technology, the OTOFIX D1 offers extensive diagnostic capabilities at OE level. The Diagnostic Tool is suitable for in-depth fault analysis, system recognition and test control for vehicles from more than 80 brands.

• Complete system diagnosis: Access to all electronic control units, including engine, transmission, ABS, airbag (SRS), body control module (BCM), steering, air conditioning, instrument panel and more. All fault codes can be read and cleared.
• Active tests (bidirectional control): Sends commands to components such as the fuel pump, cooling fan, window control, EGR valve or locking motors to test operation without disassembly.
• Read and clear fault codes (DTCs): Reads both generic and manufacturer-specific fault codes with technical descriptions. After repair, the fault codes can be cleared immediately.
• Live datastream: Displays real-time data from sensors and actuators. The information can be shown in text form, as a graph or analog gauge, with the option to record data for analysis.
• AutoVIN and AutoScan: Automatically recognizes the vehicle via the VIN number and performs a scan of all present modules, including fault codes and system status.
• Online ECU coding: Supports online coding of modules for brands such as Volkswagen, Audi and BMW. This allows new components to be correctly configured or vehicle settings to be adjusted (such as start/stop, lighting settings, windshield wipers).

Maintenance and service functions:

The OTOFIX D1 supports more than 30 maintenance and service functions, allowing essential systems to be reset, calibrated, or relearned after maintenance or part replacement. This makes the device suitable for daily work in universal workshops.

• Oil service reset: Resets the maintenance interval and service light after an oil change.
• Electronic parking brake (EPB): Releases and initializes the electric handbrake for safe replacement of brake pads or calipers.
• Battery management system (BMS): Registers a new Battery in the vehicle and restores the correct charging strategy.
• Steering angle sensor (SAS): Calibrates the steering angle sensor after alignment or replacement of steering components.
• Diesel particulate filter (DPF): Starts a forced regeneration of the soot filter and clears related fault codes.
• ABS pump bleeding: Activates the ABS system to remove air from brake lines after repair or replacement of brake components.
• Tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) reset: Resets or learns new TPMS sensors depending on vehicle type.
• Throttle body learning (ETC): Recalibrates the throttle actuator after cleaning or replacement.
• Injector coding: Programs identification codes of new injectors for optimal fuel injection.
• Transmission adaptation: Resets learning data of automatic transmissions for improved shifting behavior after maintenance.
• Crankshaft sensor learning: Recalibrates the crankshaft position after sensor or internal engine part replacement.
• AdBlue reset: Resets warnings and level measurement after refilling urea fluid.
• Air suspension calibration: Resets the ride height on vehicles with an air suspension system.
• Headlamp adjustment (AFS): Calibrates adaptive or steering headlamps after replacement or adjustment.
• Windows and sunroof initialization: Restores automatic functions of electric windows and sunroof after power loss or repair.

Programming and coding functions:

The OTOFIX D1 offers advanced coding capabilities that allow modules to be customized and configured after replacement. Although the Diagnostic Tool does not support full ECU programming (flashing), it is particularly powerful in coding and customization.

• Online ECU coding: Connects to the manufacturer's servers to code vehicle modules online. This function is especially powerful for Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda and BMW. It allows new components to be configured or hidden functions to be activated, such as disabling the start/stop system, adjusting lighting, or activating retrofits.
• Offline coding: For other brands, coding can be performed locally based on the information already stored in the tool. This often applies to vehicles from, for example, Opel, Peugeot, Ford, or Hyundai.
• Guided functions (VAG): For vehicles within the Volkswagen group, the OTOFIX D1 offers step-by-step instructions for complex procedures, such as learning keys, initializing components, or resetting systems. This prevents errors and speeds up the workflow.
• Important limitation: The OTOFIX D1 does not support ECU programming (flashing). The device therefore cannot perform full firmware or software updates on control units. For those applications, a more advanced platform is required, such as the Autel MaxiSys Ultra with J2534 Pass-Thru.

Additional features:

The OTOFIX D1 offers additional features that make working with the Diagnostic Tool more efficient and user-friendly. These extra capabilities support technicians in diagnosis, customer reporting, and remote technical support.

• Pre-scan and post-scan reports: Generates automatic fault code summaries before and after repair, ideal for customer communication and insurance evaluation.
• Remote Desk: Provides remote support by an external technician or supplier. Via a secure connection, the screen can be shared for assistance with complex diagnostics.
• Data Manager: Internal system to store and manage reports, live data, screenshots, and vehicle data within the device.
• Online update function: Thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity, software updates can be easily downloaded and installed directly via the device.
• Cloud-based user environment: The OTOFIX Cloud allows online synchronization of customer and vehicle data, provided you are logged in with an OTOFIX account.
• Screen capture and note tools: Enables saving screenshots and notes during diagnostics – useful for technical documentation or reporting.

Special communication protocols:

The OTOFIX D1 supports modern vehicle communication protocols, enabling fast and stable diagnostics on new vehicle platforms. This ensures broader compatibility and future-proofing in the workshop.

• CAN-FD (Flexible Data-rate): Supports higher data speeds than conventional CAN, required for many modern vehicles including

• DoIP (Diagnostics over IP): Not supported on the OTOFIX D1. For vehicles requiring DoIP (e.g., BMW F-/G-series, Volvo, Land Rover), a more advanced Diagnostic Tool is needed.

Optional expansions and modules:

The OTOFIX D1 can be expanded with various accessories and licenses that further extend the functionality of the Diagnostic Tool. This makes the system even more suitable for universal workshop use.

• OTOFIX BT1 Battery Tester (optional): An advanced Battery Tester that connects via Bluetooth to the OTOFIX D1. Performs extensive tests on the starting, charging, and battery circuit. Measures among others voltage, resistance, capacity (CCA), and condition.
• FCA AutoAuth license: This grants you authorized access to the Secure Gateway (SGW) of modern vehicles from Fiat, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Alfa Romeo. Requires an active AutoAuth account (to be requested separately).

License information:

• Including 2 years of updates: A 24-month update license is included with purchase.

After the first year, the license can be renewed for an annual fee. The device remains fully functional for already supported models, even without license renewal. However, new software updates can no longer be installed, and some online features may be limited or no longer supported.
