The Topdon EV Software Package update license is a digital software extension valid for two years. This license is specifically designed to expand the functionality of compatible Topdon diagnostic devices with advanced diagnostic capabilities for electric (EV) and hybrid vehicles. It grants the user access to specialized software needed for the maintenance and repair of modern electric drivetrains.

After activating the license, the vehicle coverage of the device is expanded with numerous EV models and their specific systems, such as the battery management system and high-voltage components. During the two-year period, the software continuously receives system updates to support new models and features. After the license expires, the software stops receiving updates, but the already installed EV diagnostic functions remain usable.

Applications and functionalities

Activating the Topdon EV Software Package adds essential diagnostic functions for working on electric vehicles. This software extension enables the technician to perform complex diagnostics that go beyond standard OBD2 and system analysis.

• Battery pack diagnosis: Detailed analysis of the battery status, including reading the State of Health (SoH), State of Charge (SoC), and the voltages of individual cells.
• High-voltage system analysis: Inspection and diagnosis of crucial parts such as inverters, onboard chargers, and the DC/DC conversion system.

How does it work in practice?

Activating your software extension is a simple process. Follow the steps below to add the EV functionalities to your diagnostic device:

1. Place an order for the software package.
2. Enter the serial number of your Topdon diagnostic device in the remarks field during the ordering process.
3. The digital activation code will be delivered to you by email or WhatsApp within 24 hours after ordering.
4. Enter the received code on your device via the 'Renew' or 'Update' menu.
5. After successful validation, you can download and install the new EV software on your device.

Serial number information

For software activation, the serial number (12 characters) of your diagnostic device is required. Make sure to enter this number correctly in the remarks field when ordering. You can find the serial number in one of the following places:

• Device: The number is often printed on a sticker on the back of the diagnostic device.
• Settings menu: Navigate in the software to ‘Settings’ and then to ‘About us’ to read the serial number digitally.
• Packaging box: The serial number can also be found on the original product packaging.
