The OBDSTAR MS70 update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for the MS70 for one year. The MS70 is a diagnostic reader for motorcycles, scooters, snowmobiles, ATVs and UTVs, and coverage shifts rapidly with these vehicles, as each update adds models and model years to a database already containing tens of thousands of models.

A licence renewal affects three areas on the device. The vehicle coverage expands, the maintenance functions such as oil service reset, throttle position sensor and CO value adjustment are enhanced, and the guided fault diagnosis with technical bulletins and diagnostic support data is updated. When the licence expires, the MS70 continues to operate on the last installed version, allowing reading, clearing, live data and actuator tests on already supported vehicles to proceed normally. New models will no longer be added.

IMPORTANT NOTES

✕The licence is tied to one serial number and cannot be transferred to a second MS70.

✕A renewal provides software only, not hardware, so the manufacturer-specific diagnostic adapters for Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha and BMW among others must be purchased separately.

✕Updates cover the diagnostic software, not the operating system; the MS70 runs on Android 5.1.1.

✕Updates are delivered via wifi, not through the diagnostic cable; without network access in your workshop, you cannot obtain new versions.

Applications and functionality

An active licence keeps three components of the MS70 running. These are the vehicle coverage, the service and maintenance functions and the diagnostic support data. Below is what a renewal provides and what stops working without it.

What a renewal gives you

New vehicle coverage: Manufacturers, models and model years added after your last update become available within the existing diagnostic functions.
Enhanced maintenance functions: Procedures such as oil service reset, idle speed, adaptive values, air-fuel ratio, CO value adjustment and ABS bleeding expand to cover newer vehicles.
Updated support data: The guided fault diagnosis, technical bulletins and help files are supplemented as OBDSTAR documents new cases.

What happens without renewal

New software: The update menu no longer delivers new versions; the device remains on the version currently installed.
Online services: OBDSTAR's online services, including remote assistance, may be discontinued or become limited.
Existing diagnostics: Reading and clearing fault codes, live data, actuator tests and coding continue to work on vehicles already supported.

Good to know: The serial number is located on the sticker on the rear of the MS70 and can also be found on the display in the settings menu under device information. Note it down before ordering, as we link the licence to this number.

How does it work in practice?

From order to updated device, there are four steps. The serial number is the only thing you need to find yourself.

Provide serial number: Enter the serial number of your MS70 in the order comments field.
Activation: We link the licence to that serial number, usually within one working day.
Connect device: Switch on the MS70, connect it to wifi and keep it on the charger whilst downloading.
Install updates: Open the update menu and update the software with a single click.
