The OBDSTAR MS50 STD update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for the MS50 STD for one year. The MS50 STD reads motorcycles, mopeds, snowmobiles, ATVs and UTVs and covers thirty-five brands comprehensively. The brand list and underlying systems expand with each update.

Beyond the brand coverage, a licence renewal includes service functions in the MOTO Diag, ODO Meter and Tuning applications, from oil service reset and throttle body learning to CO adjustment and ABS bleeding. We bind the licence to the serial number of your device and process it within one working day. When the licence expires, the MS50 STD continues to operate on the last installed version, but new models and remote support are no longer available.

IMPORTANT NOTES

✕The licence is tied to one serial number and cannot be transferred to a second MS50 STD.

✕A renewal provides software only, not adapters, so you'll need to purchase connections separately for models including Vespa, Shineray, Royal Enfield and Benelli's ABS port.

✕Brands listed only in the dump list, such as BMW, Ducati, Harley-Davidson and Triumph, won't receive full system diagnostics even with an active licence.

✕Updates cover the diagnostic software only, not Android 5.1.1 on which the device runs.

Features and functionality

An active licence keeps three components of the MS50 STD operational. These are the brand list, the service functions and the online support. Below is what a renewal provides and what stops working without one.

What a renewal gives you

Expanded brand list: Brands and model years added after your last update become available across engine management, ABS, immobiliser, instrument cluster, EPS, BMS and TPMS.
Enhanced service functions: Oil service reset, throttle body learning, idle speed, lambda sensor and engine adaptation, tyre pressure system reset and EOL mode keep pace with newer vehicles.
Updated programming functions: Coding, ECU settings, instrument cluster coding and fuel injector calibration and reprogramming evolve with new models.

What happens without renewal

New software: Wireless updates no longer deliver new versions; the device remains on the version currently installed.
Online services: Remote assistance and other OBDSTAR online services may be discontinued or become limited.
Existing diagnostics: Automatic scanning, fault codes, live data, actuator tests and odometer functions continue to work on already supported vehicles.

Good to know:The serial number is located on the sticker on the rear of the MS50 STD and in the settings menu under device information. Please note that the licence runs from the first activation of the device, not from the purchase date.

How does it work in practice?

From order to updated device, there are four steps. The serial number is the only thing you need to find yourself.

Connect device:Switch on the MS50 STD and connect it to wifi; keep it on the charger whilst downloading.
