The OBDSTAR ECU Master update licence for Configuration A extends your entitlement to software updates with one yearConfiguration A is the version for passenger cars and electric vehicles and unlocks four module groups: engine management, transmission, body and chassis modules, and battery management and vehicle control modules for electric vehicles.

With the ECU Master, it is not the hardware but the unlocked configuration that determines what comes within reach, and that configuration is tied to the serial number. This licence extension therefore maintains the Configuration A lists, with controllers such as Bosch MED and EDC17, Continental SIMOS, the GPEC and Delphi series, and over five hundred transmission types including DSG units. When the licence expires, the device continues to work on the last installed version, with the control units contained within it.

IMPORTANT NOTES

✕This extension applies only to Configuration A; configurations B, C and D each have their own licence and are not interchangeable.

✕Motorcycle and commercial vehicle work falls outside Configuration A, and airbag and SAS resets belong to Configuration D.

✕An extension expands the software does not come with the box, so for some controllers from 2020 onwards the P003 adapter must be purchased separately.

✕The software remains English and Chinese language; a Dutch language version is not included with a licence extension.

Applications and functionalities

An active licence keeps three components of Configuration A moving. These are the module lists, the operations that are possible on it and the operating modes. Below is what a renewal provides and what stops working without it.

What a renewal provides

New controllers: Engine management, transmission, body and chassis, and the BMS and VCU modules of electric vehicles added after your last update.
Updated operations: Cloning, checksum correction, IMMO data conversion, VIN reading and writing, odometer calibration and reset to factory status follow the new controllers.
All five modes: OBD, BENCH, BOOT, JTAG and BDM are updated together with the module lists.

What happens without renewal

New software: No new versions arrive; the Configuration A module lists remain where they were.
Online services: OBDSTAR online services may be unavailable or limited.
Existing work: The controllers already in your version continue to be read, edited and written back normally.

How does it work in practice?

From order to updated software is four steps. The serial number is the only thing you need to locate yourself.
