The OBDSTAR M001A is the main cable connecting your OBDSTAR diagnostic tool to the vehicle. On the tool side, it features a 15-pin DB15 connector, while the vehicle side has a standard 16-pin OBD2 connector (J1962) that plugs into the vehicle's diagnostic port.
This cable exists because OBDSTAR tools use a threaded DB15 connector. The cable carries signals and power between the tool and vehicle, enabling code reading, programming, and key learning through the OBD2 port. The cable simply transmits signals—it doesn't modify them.
The M001A unlocks whatever is accessible through the standard OBD2 port. For vehicles without an OBD2 port, you'll need a separate brand-specific adapter, and which functions you can perform depends on your device's software capabilities.
KEY BENEFITS
IMPORTANT NOTES
Applications and Features
The cable provides the fixed connection between tool and vehicle.
Control modules you can reach
- Systems on the OBD2 port: the control modules accessible through the standard diagnostic connector.
- Immobilizer System: accessible for key learning, provided your device supports it for the model.
What You Can Do
- Run Diagnostics: connect the tool's DB15 output to the OBD2 port for diagnostic and programming work.
- Route Signals: direct vehicle bus communication signals through the OBD2 pins to the tool.
- Power the Tool: supply voltage from the vehicle's OBD2 port to the connected device.
- Replace a Damaged Cable: use the M001A as a spare cable when the original main cable is damaged.
- Important Note: the cable itself doesn't determine what happens in a session; that's controlled by your tool's software.
Compatible Vehicles and Applications
What matters is the DB15 port on your tool and the OBD2 port on the vehicle, not the model. The source lists no specific makes or model years; the cable is the universal connection between both ports.
- Vehicles with 16-pin OBD2 (J1962): the cable fits the standard diagnostic connector.
- OBDSTAR Tools with DB15 Connection: the tool-side connector only fits a 15-pin DB15 port.
