The Launch X-PROG 3 PC Adaptor is an ECU and TCU programmer that allows mechanics and diagnostic technicians to clone, read, and edit control units directly from a PC. The device acts as a link between the PC and the control unit to be edited and offers a 2D menu structure with a search function to quickly select the correct ECU or TCU type. The Adapter supports a wide range of ECUs from manufacturers including Bosch, Continental, Siemens, and Delco, and TCUs from ZF, Getrag, Temic, and Bosch, including the EDC16/EDC17, MED17, MEVD17, 6HP/8HP, 7DCT300, and 9G Tronic.
Communication between the device and the PC takes place via a stable USB connection at an input voltage of 12 to 23 V. From the software on the PC, ECU and TCU data can be copied and modified, with the Adapter providing support for engine data validation and deactivating the immobilizer. The Adapter works as a coupling module with the X-PROG3 hardware and is controlled via the accompanying PC software, allowing component-level operations on ECUs and transmission controllers.

- Modify ECU data: Adjusts read ECU data via the PC software before writing it back.
- Engine data validation: Checks the integrity of engine data before writing to prevent write errors on the ECU.
- Deactivate immobilizer: Disables the engine immobilizer so that a replaced or cloned ECU starts without synchronization with the original system.
