The Launch X-431 V+ / HD III update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for the V+ with HD III for one year. The V+ with HD III combines an X-431 tablet with the commercial vehicle module, covering trucks, buses and agricultural and construction machinery. The commercial vehicle module transforms the tablet into a heavy equipment diagnostic tool, supporting diesel particulate filter regeneration, injector coding, speed limiter adjustment and AdBlue system management. Whilst the licence remains active, every new software version downloads automatically through the update menu on the device itself.

When ordering, you must provide the serial number of your V+ with HD III. You will then receive the renewal card by email, typically within one working day, and enter the code through the update menu on the device. A renewal maintains commercial vehicle coverage and the service procedures, which is where the value lies for trucks, buses and machines. When the licence expires, the V+ with HD III continues to operate on the last installed version, but you cannot install newer versions.

POINTS TO NOTE

Applications and functionality

An active licence covers three components of the V+ with HD III. These are vehicle coverage, the function files and the online services. Below you can see what a renewal provides and what happens if you do not renew.

What a renewal provides

  • New vehicle coverage: Brands, models and model years added after your last update become available within the existing diagnostic functions.
  • Extended service functions: Procedures such as diesel particulate filter regeneration, injector coding, idle speed adjustment, NOx sensor reset and suspension system calibration continue to support newer vehicles as manufacturers modify their systems.
  • Commercial vehicle coverage: Truck, trailer and machinery models are added as they come to market.

What happens without renewal

  • No updates: New coverage and new procedures will no longer reach your device.
  • Online functions: Anything the software does not have on board may become unavailable after expiry.
  • Existing diagnostics: Reading, clearing, live data and active tests on already supported vehicles continue to work normally.

How does it work in practice?

From order to updated device is four steps. The serial number is the only thing you need to find yourself.

  1. Provide serial number: When placing your order, provide the serial number of your V+ with HD III; this is mandatory.
  2. Receive card: You receive the renewal card with the code by email, usually within one working day.
  3. Enter code: Open the update menu on the V+ with HD III and enter the code from the card.
  4. Install updates: Connect the V+ with HD III to WiFi, select the available versions and start the installation.
