The Launch X-431 V+ / HD III Update License is a digital software license that keeps your diagnostic scanner's software environment updated with new versions for 1 year. The license provides access to the latest software updates released by the manufacturer, including new vehicle coverage, customized diagnostic modules, and improvements to existing features. Since the license is tied to your existing device, the familiar workflow in the diagnostic software remains unchanged—only the content and vehicle coverage are expanded. This update period is designed for workshops that need to support both passenger vehicles and heavy-duty vehicles with current data.

When you order, you'll receive an update card with a 12-character activation code, which you enter manually into the corresponding Launch X-431 V+ or HD III software. After logging into the license or update menu, you enter the code, and new updates become available through the standard download function on your device. When the license period expires after 1 year, your device continues to work with the already-installed software, but access to new updates and additional vehicle coverage is blocked. Renewal is then required to continue receiving software updates.

Serial Number Information

To link your account and verify your diagnostic device, you may need the serial number of your X-431 V+ or HD III. You can find this number in several locations.

Back of the device: A sticker with the serial number is located on the tablet of the X-431 V+ or on the housing of the HD III.
Information menu in the software: Within the Launch diagnostic software, you can view the serial number through the settings or account menu under device information.
VCI module or connector: The accompanying VCI interface typically has a label displaying the serial number of the module.
