The Launch X-431 PAD V update licence extends your entitlement to software updates for the PAD V with one year. The interface operates locally via WiFi, Bluetooth or cable connection, and remotely over the network, and the device supports J2534, DoIP and CAN FD, with on-board coding and programming capabilities. The PAD V is a ten-inch diagnostic tablet featuring the SmartLink C V2.0 interface, suitable for passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles, and for this type of work what matters most is whether the device recognises today's vehicles. An active licence is what makes that difference.

A licence renewal keeps the vehicle coverage, the coding and programming files and the topology display to. To get that underway we need the serial number of your PAD V required; this is mandatory at the time of order. You will then receive the renewal card by email and enter the code in the update menu When the term expires, nothing changes on what is already stored on the device.

POINTS TO NOTE

✕Provide the serial number of your device when ordering, as this is mandatory for this renewal.
✕Without renewal, the programming files remain unchanged, whilst vehicle manufacturers update their systems most rapidly in this area.
✕A renewal provides software only, not hardware, so the modules for oscilloscope, sensor measurement, battery test, endoscope and WiFi printer, as well as ADAS calibration equipment, remain available for separate purchase.
✕Downloading requires a stable WiFi connection; on a busy guest network, a large update can take considerable time.

What a renewal provides

  • New vehicle coverage: Brands, models and model years added after your last update become available within existing diagnostic functions.
  • Expanded service functions: The package of service and maintenance functions expands alongside newer vehicles.
  • Programming files: The files behind ECU programming are expanded for newer control units.

What happens without renewal

  • New versions: Nothing further is added, including no corrections to software already installed.
  • Online side: Services running through manufacturer servers may become limited or unavailable after expiry.
  • Unchanged: Diagnosis on vehicles the device already recognises remains unaffected by licence expiry.

How does it work in practice?

Below four steps describe the entire process. Ensure the PAD V remains connected to the charger hangs.

  1. Device details: Provide the serial number of your PAD V when placing your order.
  2. Code sent: You receive the card with the code by email, usually within one working day.
  3. Activate on the device: Enter the code in the update menu of your PAD V; a PC is not required.
