The Jaltest test lead set (50003008) consists of two test leads, one red and one black, each with a fixed test pin at one end and a right-angled safety banana plug at the other. The pins have a ribbed grip with a thick collar, so your fingers stay behind the test point. Together the leads weigh 95.5 grams.

With these leads you can measure voltage, resistance and continuity on sensors, actuators and wiring harnesses, using the multimeter you already have. The pointed tip reaches tight test points where a blunt pin slips off. It is a standalone replacement for leads that have become damaged or unreliable.

POINTS TO NOTE

✕The set consists of two leads. Clips, adapters and a storage pouch are not included.
✕The pins are fixed to the lead and cannot be swapped for a clip or another probe tip.

✕The point damages the insulation of a wire when piercing it. Seal the hole afterwards, otherwise moisture will enter the wire.

Applications and functionality

These leads are the connection between your multimeter and the point you are measuring. They are intended for electrical work on vehicle wiring, so for low-voltage work on sensors, actuators and wiring harnesses.

  4. Measuring: Place the pins on the test point.
  5. Sealing: Seal a pierced wire again.

Compatible measuring instruments and applications

The measuring input of your multimeter is decisive. The leads end in a right-angled safety banana plug and therefore fit a multimeter with a banana socket.

  • Which of the two: If you mainly measure at easily accessible points, the test lead set is sufficient. If you often work on connectors that must remain connected, the case is the logical choice.

Good to know: Measuring leads wear in two places: the bend behind the plug and the tip of the pin. A hairline crack or bent tip gives fluctuating readings, so a healthy circuit may be written off as faulty. Therefore check the leads for continuity from time to time before you start looking for a fault.
