The Jaltest JDC616A connects the 4-pin diagnostic connector of Suzuki outboard motors to the 16-pin OBD2 socket on your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the engine side, there is a square connector with a black outer shell and a distinctive light green inner housing, which contains four positions behind a centre rib; this colour helps you identify the connection without tracing the wiring harness. The cable runs straight out from the connector on both sides and measures 28 to 30 cm in length. The connector itself is located in the engine compartment, on or next to the motor. Suzuki also uses an 8-pin diagnostic connector on the DF series, for which the JDC613A is intended.
Once the connection is established, the diagnostic equipment can access the two control units that Jaltest supports on the DF series: the engine control unit ECM and the BCM, the control module for the throttle and shift levers. The difference between the two is significant: the engine control unit provides the full function list, including component control, parameters, calibration, reset and manual procedures, whilst the control module is limited to fault codes, live data, ECU information and calibration. The cable falls under Jaltest Marine.

Applications and functionality
Through this connection, you can access the two control units of the Suzuki outboard engine using Jaltest software. The engine management carries the full function list, whilst the throttle and shift lever control module has a shorter one. The units below are from the Suzuki coverage.

- BCM, control module: The electronic module for throttle and shift levers, with fault codes, measured values, ECU data, calibration and live monitoring.

- Read fault codes: Access the fault memory of the engine control unit and control module, with descriptions of detected faults.
- View measured values and live monitoring: Monitor current sensor readings in real time whilst the engine is running.
- Activate components: Directly trigger actuators on the engine control unit only.
- Adjust parameters and reset maintenance: Also limited to the engine control unit.
- Calibration: Available on both the engine control unit and control module.
- Perform manual procedures: Guided checks on the engine control unit.

The connector type determines compatibility, not the model.This cable fits any Suzuki outboard motor with the 4-pin diagnostic connector. Jaltest Marine covers the models listed below; you can identify which of the two versions is fitted to your motor by checking the pin configuration of the connector.
