The Jaltest JDC531A is the RS232 diagnostic cable for Scania engines. On the machine side is a 9-pin D-sub with nine contact sockets in a metal shield hood, which you secure with two knurled screws. On the interface side is the black 16-pin OBD2 connector. The cable measures 28 to 30 cm.
Halfway along the cable is a black module with its own power supply; the branch ends in a cigarette lighter plug. The cable accesses the serial RS232 line of the older Scania engine generation; the newer CAN line runs via the JDC532A. The cable is specified for the Jaltest Link V8.1 and falls under Jaltest OHW and Jaltest Marine.

Applications and features
Via this connection, the Jaltest software accesses the engine management of the Scania engine. The diagnostic connector on the engine, not the engine type, determines which control unit you reach. On the RS232 line, this concerns the control units for in-line injection pumps and for pump-nozzle units.

How to use it
- Check the connector: Locate the 9-pin D-sub in the engine compartment.
- Connect: Secure the D-sub with the knurled screws.
- Power supply: Plug the connector into a 12 volt connection.
- Link pairing: Connect the OBD2 side to the Jaltest Link.
- Reading: Select Scania and the engine control unit.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector determines compatibility, not the engine type. This cable fits any Scania engine with the 9-pin RS232 diagnostic connection in a metal hood. Jaltest covers the engine series below, from the DC09 up to and including the DC16. Check on site which connector is fitted to your engine.
