The Jaltest JDC617A is the adapter cable connecting the 10-pin ECU connector of Mercury engines with SmartCraft G3 electronics to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the engine side, there is an elongated connector with a black housing, a locking bracket on the rear and a purple inner holder containing the ten positions arranged in two rows of five. The lead exits both connectors straight and the cable measures 28 to 30 cm in length; the connection itself is located at the engine, under the bonnet or in the engine bay.
With this connection, the Jaltest equipment reads both control units of the G3 system: The engine control module PCM G3, which carries the power rating in its designation, and the DTS G3, the electronic throttle and trim control unit. The coverage difference lies precisely between the two: On the engine control module you have fault codes, component tests, parameters, calibration and maintenance reset, whilst on the control unit it remains limited to measured values, ECU data and calibration. The G3 electronics are found on both outboard motors and inboard installations, allowing you to use this cable in both applications. The cable falls under Jaltest Marine.

Applications and functionality
Through this connection, you access the two control units of the G3 system using Jaltest software. The engine control unit carries the full feature set, whilst the throttle and shift control offers more limited functionality. The following units are covered under Mercury coverage.
Control units you can access
- PCM G3, engine control: The engine control unit, identified on the cover by its power rating, for example PCM-112 G3 on the 300 Verado V8 and PCM-196 G3 on the 600 Verado V12. This is the unit with the full feature set.
- DTS G3, throttle and shift control: Electronic throttle and shift control. Jaltest reads measurement values, ECU data and calibration, but not fault codes.
What you can do
- Read fault codes: Access the fault memory of the engine control unit, with descriptions of detected faults.
- View live data: Current sensor readings from the engine control unit and the DTS G3.
- Actuate components: Active tests on the engine control unit, including cylinder balance and cylinder deactivation.
- Parameters and calibration: Modify engine control settings and perform DTS G3 calibration.
- Reset service intervals: Reset the service reminder on the engine control unit after maintenance.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type determines compatibility, not the model. This cable fits any Mercury engine with the 10-pin ECU connector of the SmartCraft G3 generation. The Jaltest Marine database covers the versions listed below; check the purple inner contact to confirm you have the G3 connector.
Mercury (SmartCraft G3):
- Verado V8: Including the 300 Verado V8, with control unit PCM-112 G3 and DTS G3
- Verado V10 and V12: Including the 600 Verado V12, with control unit PCM-196 G3 and DTS G3
- SeaPro: Heavy-duty versions from the same G3 generation
- Inboard installations: The same G3 electronics are also used in inboard installations
