The Jaltest MDC04 is the test cable connecting the 4-pin connector of a Knorr-Bremse EBS module excluding MAN to the 16-pin OBD2 port on the Jaltest ETM. You connect it directly to the module, not to the vehicle's diagnostic connector. On the module side, there is a Deutsch-type connector with a grey housing, grey locking bracket and orange-brown sealing ring; the contact carrier is grey and bears the coding A.
With this connection, the Jaltest ETM establishes communication with the modulator itself, as if it were the control unit. This allows you to determine whether the component is genuinely faulty or whether the fault lies in the wiring or control unit. In addition to this cable, you will need the ETM itself, with an ETM licence and a current CV or Modular software licence.

Applications and functionality
Via this cable, the Jaltest ETM communicates directly with the component, bypassing the vehicle's control unit. Below is a summary of which components the ETM in that manner and what you put in it workshop with determines.
What Jaltest ETM covers
- EBS modulators from Wabco:First, second and third generation.
- EBS modulators from Knorr-Bremse:Second and third generation.
- Knorr-Bremse trailer modulators:The trailer brake control modules.
- Inductive wheel speed sensors:The speed sensors of ABS and EBS systems.
- Brake pad wear sensors:The sensors that monitor brake pad thickness.
What you can do
- Approach the component in isolation:The ETM assumes the role of the control unit and communicates directly with the component.
- Determining whether the component is genuinely faulty:If the component functions correctly, the fault lies elsewhere in the system.
- Measure an EBS modulator in its entirety:The advanced diagnosis of the modulator.
- Perform an End of Line test (EOL):The inspection you perform to confirm the component is functioning correctly.
What you'll need
- Jaltest ETM:The test module itself. For the Jaltest Link V9, this is the ETM interface with reference 70001007; the complete ETM kit is 70001008.
- ETM licence:Without that licence, the ETM will not start. The annual renewal has reference 29701.
- A valid Jaltest software licence:A CV licence or a Modular licence. Other modules cannot be combined with the ETM.
- Power supply:The ETM is powered from the vehicle's batteries.
