The Jaltest MDC11 is the diagnostic cable for wear sensors and connects the brake pad wear sensor to the 16-pin OBD2 port of the Jaltest ETM. It is an adapter with its own housing. From the black plastic housing marked Jaltest MDC11, the OBD2 plug protrudes on one side; on the other side, a short cable runs to a round 3-pin connector with the three contacts in a triangle. On the MDC11, this cable enters the connector at a right angle, at an angle of ninety degrees.
With this connection, the Jaltest ETM accesses the sensor separately from the control unit and establishes the communication itself. This shows whether the sensor is actually faulty, or whether the cause lies in the wiring or the control unit. You confirm this with an End of Line test. In addition to this cable, you need the ETM itself, with an ETM licence and a current CV or Modular software licence.

Via this cable, the Jaltest ETM communicates directly with the brake pad wear sensor, without the vehicle's control unit being involved. The cable connects to the sensor, not to the vehicle's diagnostic connector.

Compatible components and applications
The deciding factor is how the cable enters the connector. The MDC11 and the MDC10 have the same housing, the same OBD2 plug and the same round 3-pin connector; on the MDC11, the cable enters at a right angle.
Brake pad wear sensors:
- 3-pin BWS: Round 3-pin connection, cable at a right angle.
Other versions:
- MDC10: Cable straight into the connector.
- MDC12: Speed sensors.
What you need
- Jaltest ETM: The test module itself. For the Jaltest Link V9, this is the ETM interface with reference 70001007; the complete ETM kit is 70001008.
- ETM licence: The ETM does not start without this licence. The annual renewal has reference 29701.
- A current Jaltest software licence: A CV licence or a Modular licence. Other modules cannot be combined with the ETM.
- Term: The ETM licence runs in line with the expiry date of your Jaltest software licence. If that licence has more than one year remaining, you only pay for the remaining period. If the Jaltest licence expires, the ETM will not work until it is renewed.
- Power supply: The ETM is powered from the vehicle's batteries.
