The Jaltest JDC603A connects the 4-pin diagnostic connector of Mercury marine engines to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the engine side is a wide, flat black plug with a rounded housing and a locking tab on the upper side. Mercury uses the same plug on its outboard engines and on the MerCruiser inboard engines. The cable measures 28 to 30 cm.
Behind this connection are the PCM-555 and ECM-555 engine controllers, the ECM-70 G3 and the ECM DFI of the Optimax engines. You can also reach the DTS G3 for digital throttle and shift control and the TVM G3 for course control. On the 555 control units you get all functions up to and including calibration and reset; on the DTS G3, Jaltest does not read fault codes. The cable falls under Jaltest Marine.

Through this connection, the Jaltest software accesses the engine controller of the Mercury engine and the control electronics on board. The range of functions differs per control unit: on the PCM- and ECM-555 you get all functions, on the DTS G3 the fewest. The units below are part of the Mercury coverage of Jaltest Marine.

Compatible vehicles and applications
The plug determines compatibility, not the model. This cable fits any Mercury engine with the 4-pin connection, outboard and inboard. Jaltest Marine covers the series below within the Mercury coverage; you can tell whether you have the right cable from the wide flat plug with the locking tab, not from the engine model number.
Mercury outboard:
- Fourstroke series: 15 to 300 hp, including the Jet Fourstroke versions.
- Verado series: 135 to 600 hp.
- Optimax series: 75 to 250 hp.
- Pro XS, Pro Max and SeaPro: 15 to 500 hp.
Mercury MerCruiser inboard:
- MPI and MAG versions: Including the 4.3, 5.0, 5.7, 6.2, 7.4, 8.1 and 8.2.
- Other: The 496 MAG, Scorpion and Vazer engines.
