The Jaltest JDC540A is the RS232 diagnostic cable for Bosch Rexroth BODAS control units and measures 28 to 30 cm. On the vehicle side is a round metal connector with a knurled coupling ring that you twist over the connection point. Halfway along the cable sits a black plastic module with a threaded power connection, onto which an angled connector is fitted. The cable therefore has three branches: the 16-pin OBD2 connector for your Jaltest diagnostic cable, the round 8-pin RS232 connector and the power branch.
RS232 is a serial connection and not a CAN-bus; the module in the cable establishes that communication and requires its own power connection for this. With that connection, the Jaltest equipment reads out the BODAS RC Series (RS232), the programmable machine controller that manages the hydrostatic drive and work functions. In addition to fault codes, measured values, ECU data, parameters and live data monitoring are covered. The cable is specified for Jaltest Link V8.1 and falls under Jaltest OHW and Jaltest MHE.
