The Jaltest JDC305A is not an engine cable but a brake system cable: it connects to the control unit of a Knorr-Bremse anti-lock braking system. On the vehicle side, it terminates in two rectangular 18-pin connectors that mate together — one with pins arranged in two rows of nine and one with sockets in the same configuration. You disconnect the existing connection between the control unit and the vehicle wiring harness and insert this cable between them, allowing the brake system to remain connected whilst you monitor the data. On the interface side is the 16-pin OBD2 connector, and the cable length is 29 to 31 cm.
With this connection, Jaltest software supports ABS 6 in the variants K&L, KWPDC and SAE as well as the older ABS24/EU12. Because the brake control unit is the determining factor rather than the vehicle manufacturer, the same cable works across commercial vehicles from different makes. The functional scope varies by variant: ABS 6 (K&L) includes calibration procedures in the coverage, whilst KWPDC and SAE do not. Some functions require the separate module Knorr-Bremse Diagnostics (ref. 71502007). The cable falls under Jaltest CV.
KEY BENEFITS
IMPORTANT NOTES
Applications and functionality
Using this connection, you can access the Jaltest software to communicate with the vehicle emissions regulation of the vehicle, in other words the anti-lock braking system, and not the engine. Which version you encounter is determined by the generation of the Knorr-Bremse unit and not the vehicle make. The units listed below are sourced from ABS coverage, with each version featuring the features that are available.
Control units you can access
- ABS 6 (K&L), anti-lock braking system: The version with the most comprehensive function range, including calibration.
- ABS 6 (KWPDC), anti-lock braking system: The KWP version of the same generation.
- ABS 6 (SAE), anti-lock braking system: The SAE version, with live measurement values in the documentation.
- ABS24/EU12, anti-lock braking system: The older Knorr-Bremse version for which this cable is also intended.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes: Read the fault memory of the brake control unit and clear it after repair.
- View measurement values: The current values from the connected sensors, including wheel speed sensors.
- Activate components: Directly engage valves and modulators to check their operation.
- Configure parameters: Read and adjust the ABS control unit settings.
- Perform calibration: For ABS 6 (K&L), a calibration procedure is included in the documentation.
- Reset maintenance: Clear service messages after work is completed.
- Functions from Knorr-Bremse Diagnostics: These are listed for all systems in this group and require the separate module (ref. 71502007).
Compatible vehicles and applications
The control unit determines compatibility, not the vehicle manufacturer. This cable is for the Knorr-Bremse ABS 6 and ABS24/EU12 brake control units; the chassis builder is irrelevant for the connection. You identify the location by the two 18-pin connectors with two rows of nine that meet on the control unit, not by the OBD connection in the cab. Verify this on the vehicle itself before ordering.
Application:
- Commercial vehicles with a Knorr-Bremse ABS 6 or ABS24/EU12 control unit
- Vehicle make is not a determining factor: The cable follows the Knorr-Bremse unit, regardless of which chassis manufacturer built the vehicle
- Even on vehicles with their own OBD connector: The brake control module retains its own diagnostic socket
