\nThe Jaltest JDC210A connects the 37-pin diagnostic connectorof the classicMAN-series on the 16-pin OBD2-input of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the vehicle side there is a broad round connectorwith a coarse knurled coupling ring and adense 37-pin connector field; the cable exits straight out. The cable measures 28 to 30 cmand the cable works withJaltest Link V8.1 and V9This connector is found on generations prior to the TG series.

\nThe cable opens the diagnostic line to the loose control units of these trucks: The engine management systems EDC M7 and EDC MS5, the anti-lock braking systems ABS Ci12, ABS Gamma 2E/2M, ABS KB3A and ABS/ASR C, the retarder control EST-32 and EST-42, the ECAS-air suspension per axle configuration, rear axle steering RAS EC1 and climate control ATC. These generations did not yet have a central vehicle computer like theFFRfrom the later TG series, so you diagnose each control unit individually. The cable falls under Jaltest CV (commercial vehicles).\n

KEY BENEFITS

Accesses the engine control unitsEDC M7 and EDC MS5with inline fuel injection pump.
Also covers the four ABS generations that MAN used during this period: ABS Ci12, ABS Gamma 2E/2M, ABS KB3A and ABS/ASR C.
The complete ECAS family for air suspension (4x2, 6x2 and ESAC) and rear axle steering RAS EC1.
Covers an extended timeframe: From the F 90 launched in 1986 through to the final 2000-series in 2005, and compatible with Link V8.1 and V9.

IMPORTANT NOTES

These generations lack a central vehicle computer like the FFR found on the TG-series; you diagnose each control unit individually.
Only for the 37-pin connector: The TGA, TGL and TGM feature the compact 4-pin connection and require the JDC207A.
From Euro IV (October 2005) onwards, MAN replaced the connector with the standardised 16-pins OBD2 socket.
At 28 to 30 cm in length, the cable is short, and the wide connector also requires space around the socket.

Applications and functionality

Using this connection, you can access the truck's control units with Jaltest software. Unlike the later TG series, the units here are not linked via a central computer, so you select them individually in the software. The control units listed below are from the MAN coverage of the 90 and 2000 series.

Control units you can access

  • EDC M7 and EDC MS5: The electronic engine management with in-line injection pump.
  • ABS Ci12, ABS Gamma 2E/2M, ABS KB3A and ABS/ASR C: The anti-lock braking systems from this period.
  • EST-32 and EST-42, retarder: The auxiliary braking control.
  • ECAS 4x2 A, 4x2 N, 4x2-6x2, 6x2 and ECAS-ESAC 6x2: The electronically controlled air suspension in configurations for each axle setup.
  • RAS EC1, rear axle control: The regulation of the steerable rear axle.
  • ATC, automatic climate control: The regulation of heating and air conditioning.

What you can do

  • Read and clear fault codes: Access the control unit's fault memory and view detailed descriptions of detected faults.
  • View live data: Monitor real-time sensor values connected to the control unit, displayed as numerical readings and graphs.
  • Actuate components: Activate individual components directly to determine whether the fault originates from the component itself or from the wiring.
  • Configure parameters: Write configurations and settings to the control unit.
  • Perform calibrations: For systems where Jaltest offers a calibration procedure, such as following component replacement.

Compatible vehicles and applications

The connector type determines compatibility, not the model. This cable is designed for MAN generations prior to the TG series: the 90 range and the 2000 family. All these models date from well before October 2005, when the standardised 16-pin OBD2 connector became mandatory for commercial vehicles; the 2000 series production ended at this point. From the TGA from 2000 onwards, the 4-pin connector applies, requiring the JDC207A.

MAN:

  • F 90: (1986 - 1994)
  • G 90: (1987 - 1993)
  • M 90: (1988 - 1995)
  • F 2000 (19T - 41T): (1992 - 2005)
  • E 2000 (19T - 50T): (1992 - 2005)
  • L 2000 (7.5T - 10.5T): (1992 - 2005)
  • M 2000 (12T - 26T): (1992 - 2005)
  • LE / ME (derivatives of L 2000 and M 2000): (1994 - 2005)
💡
Good to know: The 37-pin connector is located in the cab and is unmistakable: a wide round plug with densely packed pins. If you drive a TGA, TGL or TGM, you will instead find a compact 4-pin connector with a red inner ring and will need the JDC207A instead. Check your cab before ordering.
