The Jaltest JDC209A connects the proprietary 16-pin diagnostic connector of older DAF trucks to the 16-pin OBD2 input of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the vehicle side is a round black connector with a ribbed coupling ring that you screw tight. The grey face contains sixteen numbered positions, fourteen of which hold a socket. The cable measures 28 to 30 cm.

With the cable connected, the Jaltest software accesses the control units of the DAF generations that predate the standardised connector. Depending on model and year of manufacture, these include the engine controls UPEC and EDC Cummins Celect of the 95XF, on the CF series the central vehicle computer VIC and the AS Tronic gearbox, and further brake, air suspension and tachograph systems. The cable works with the Jaltest Link V8.1 and V9 and falls under Jaltest CV.

POINTS TO NOTE

✕The vehicle side is round with a coupling ring, not the flat D-shaped OBD2 plug; the number 16 refers to the number of positions in that round face.
✕From Euro IV (October 2005) DAF switched to the 16-pin OBD2 connector; for Euro 4 or newer you do not need this cable.
✕Coverage differs by generation: the 95XF has no central vehicle computer, the CF85 does, plus a maintenance system and additional heating modules.
✕A Jaltest Link and a licence for Jaltest CV are required for use; these are not included with the cable.

Applications and functions

The cable is intended for workshops that read out older DAF trucks with the Jaltest Link. Which units are present depends on model and year of manufacture: a 95XF carries clearly less electronics than a CF85. The units below come from the DAF coverage of Jaltest.

How to use it

  1. Check the plug: Locate the round 16-pin connector in the cab.
  2. Connect: Tighten the coupling ring of the JDC209A.
  3. Link pairing: Connect the OBD2 end to the Jaltest Link.
  4. Start the software: Open Jaltest CV on the PC.
  5. Read out: Select DAF, the series and the system.

Compatible vehicles and applications

The plug is decisive, not the model. The cable fits any DAF with the round 16-pin diagnostic connector. The series below are included in the Jaltest CV coverage. The end year follows the Euro IV transition (type approval October 2005, all registrations October 2006), after which the 16-pin OBD2 connector took over.

Good to know: The DAF connector is round, with a ribbed coupling ring and a grey face on which the positions are numbered. Of the sixteen positions, fourteen are occupied. The flat, D-shaped OBD2 plug also has sixteen positions, but belongs to DAF trucks from Euro IV onwards. Check the connector in your cab before ordering.
