The Jaltest JDC203A connects the proprietary round 14-pin diagnostic connector found on Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the vehicle side, there is a black round plug with a knurled coupling ring and fourteen pins arranged in a circular pattern; the cable exits straight out. The cable measures 28 to 30 cm and is compatible with Jaltest Link V8.1 and V9. This round connector is located in the cab.
Once connected, the Jaltest software accesses the vehicle's control units: the engine control MR with unit pump system, the transmission control FR and the complete gearbox and clutch management (GS, AG and KS), along with braking, air suspension, instrument cluster and service systems. The number of units present depends on the model: an SK/MK/LK from the 1990s has only a fraction of the control units found in an Actros. Mercedes-Benz used this round connector until the introduction of Euro IV (October 2005). The cable falls under Jaltest CV (commercial vehicles).

Applications and functionality
Via this connection, you access the vehicle's control units using Jaltest software. Which units are present depends on the series and specification: An Atego distribution truck carries different modules than an Actros tractor unit. The units below are from the Mercedes-Benz coverage in Jaltest.
Control units you can access
- MR, engine control with unit pump system: Electronic control of the diesel engine with unit pumps.
- FR, transmission control: The unit that coordinates engine, brake and transmission requests.
- GS, AG and KS: Transmission control, automatic gearbox selection and clutch management.
- ABS 6 (K) / ABS 6 (KWPDC) and BS: The anti-lock braking system and electronic brake control.
- RS, retarder management: Retarder actuation control.
- NR, electronically controlled air suspension: Air suspension level adjustment.
- INS and WS: Instrument cluster and service system, including unit serial number and software version.
- PSM, parameterisable body module: The module for vehicle body and equipment functions.
- ART, SPA and SRS: Adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and airbag system.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes: Access the fault memory of the control unit with detailed descriptions of detected faults.
- View live data: Display current sensor values connected to the control unit in numerical and graphical format.
- Activate components: Directly trigger components to determine whether the fault lies with the component itself or in the wiring.
- Configure parameters: Write configurations and settings to the control unit.
- Perform calibrations: For systems where Jaltest offers a calibration procedure, such as after component replacement.
- Reset service intervals: Reset the service reminder via the vehicle's service system.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type determines compatibility, not the model. This cable fits any Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle with the round 14-pin diagnostic connector. Jaltest CV covers the following series; the end year is capped at October 2005, when the standardised 16-pin OBD2-connector for commercial vehicles became mandatory. The knurled coupling ring and the fourteen pins identify the correct connector.
