The Jaltest JDC111A is the adapter between the 7-pin diagnostic connector of the Knorr-Bremse KB4-TA trailer ABS system and the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the trailer side, there is a round black connector with a knurled locking ring, which has seven positions but only four are occupied — all four with sockets. This combination of a 7-pin housing with four sockets distinguishes this connector from the fully pin-populated 7-pin connector of the JDC103A. The cable is 28 to 30 cm long.

Beyond that coupling, the cable opens the diagnostic line to the ABS Trailer (KB4-TA) control unit. With this, the equipment reads the fault memory and wheel speed sensors per axle — you can command solenoid valves and modulators and adjust the brake system configuration. Some of these functions become available with the separate Knorr-Bremse Diagnostics module (ref. 71502007). For trailers no standardised diagnostic connector has ever been mandated, which is why this connector remains in use as long as the system is on the road. The cable works with Jaltest Link V8.1 and V9 and falls under the Jaltest CV module.

KEY BENEFITS

Provides access to the trailer brake system with fault codes and wheel speed sensors per axle.
Coverage extends beyond reading data: it also includes controlling valves and modulators and configuring parameters.
What matters is the Knorr-Bremse unit on the chassis, not the trailer manufacturer, which means the same cable works across different trailers.
Compatible with Jaltest Link V8.1 and V9, supporting both older and current interface generations.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Some functions only become available with the separate Knorr-Bremse Diagnostics module (ref. 71502007).
For the 7-pin connector with four sockets only If the 7-pin connection is fully populated with pins you need the JDC103A instead.
Newer TEBS-generations use a different connector: TEBS Gen2, TEBS G2.x, TEBS4 CAN, TEBS4 via K and iTEBS X are not supported by this cable.
Knorr-Bremse systems TIM G2, TRM and tyre pressure monitoring TPMS and iTPMS are listed as separate systems with their own connectors.

Applications and functionality

Using this connection, you can access the Jaltest software to diagnose the braking system of the trailer or semi-trailer — specifically the anti-lock braking system. The diagnostic connector is located on or near the ABS control unit, typically at the front of the chassis. The control unit listed below is covered by Jaltest's trailer module, with the functions available there.

Control units you can access

  • ABS Trailer (KB4-TA), anti-lock braking system: The braking system this cable is designed for, including fault codes, live data, actuation and parameters.

What you can do

  • Read and clear fault codes: Access the fault memory of the braking system and clear it after repair.
  • View live data: Monitor the current values from connected sensors, including wheel speed sensors per axle.
  • Actuate components: Directly activate solenoids and modulators to verify their operation.
  • Configure parameters: Read and adjust the braking system configuration.
  • Reset service reminders: Clear service notifications after maintenance has been completed.

Compatible vehicles and applications

The connector type determines compatibility, not the vehicle model. This cable fits any semi-trailer or trailer equipped with a Knorr-Bremse KB4-TA unit where the diagnostic connector is a 7-pin housing with four sockets. Since trailers have never been subject to a standardised diagnostic connector requirement, this connector also works on newer semi-trailers remains in use. The TEBS generations operate via their own dedicated connection.

Knorr-Bremse (scope):

  • KB4-TA: The trailer anti-lock braking system for which this cable is designed.
  • Chassis make: Not determining; the cable follows the Knorr-Bremse unit on the chassis.
  • Year of manufacture: Not determining; trailers have no mandatory diagnostic connection requirement.
💡
Good to know: Both this cable and the JDC103A terminate in a round 7-pin connector. The difference lies in the internal construction: here four sockets in a housing with seven positions, there seven pins with one in the centre. Verify this on the trailer itself before ordering.
