The Jaltest JDC557A9 connects the 3-pin diagnostic connector of Hyster and Yale lift trucks to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. The machine connector is round: a black knurled ring over a grey contact holder with three positions — a blue-marked round pin, a small round pin and a square pin — with a black retaining clip at the top. Behind the OBD2 coupling, the cable also splits into two branches: alongside the 3-pin machine connector runs a thinner cable that terminates in a round black connector with right-angle cable entry.
Hyster and Yale belong to the same manufacturer group and share their electronics, allowing one cable to service both brands. On combustion-engine trucks you will find the machine computer VSM, the module HLM and the engine control unit EDC Yanmar; on the electric XN series you will find the machine computer MC, the power modules LMC and RMC for the traction and lift drive, the hydraulic steering HPC and E-HYDRAULICS and the display DCU. When ordering, pay attention to the interface generation: this cable works exclusively with Jaltest Link V9, and the digit 9 after the reference number denotes that version.

Applications and functionality
Via this connection you access the truck's control units with the Jaltest software. Which systems are present varies considerably depending on drivetrain: internal combustion trucks feature engine control units, while the electric XN series instead use power modules for traction and lift respectively. The units listed below are covered under Jaltest's materials handling equipment coverage.
Control units you can access
- VSM, machine computer: The main engine control unit found in Hyster and Yale internal combustion trucks.
- HLM, electronic module: The module responsible for truck operation on those vehicles.
- MC, machine computer: The engine control unit of the electric XN series.
- LMC and RMC, power modules: The power modules for electric traction and lift drive.
- HPC and E-HYDRAULICS, hydraulic control: The control system for lift and tilt functions.
- DCU, display: The instrument cluster of the electric trucks.
- EDC Yanmar, diesel engine control: The engine management system of diesel variants.
What you can do

Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type determines compatibility, not the model. This cable works with any Hyster or Yale truck equipped with the round 3-pin diagnostic connector located at the driver's position. Jaltest covers the following series under its materials handling equipment coverage; for forklifts there is no OBD requirement, so this connector is also found on newer trucks. The year of manufacture is therefore not decisive here.
