The Jaltest JDC558A connects the 5-pin diagnostic connector from Genie boom lifts, scissor lifts and telehandlers to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the machine side, there is a round Deutsch connector with a grey toothed coupling ring, a red seal and five grey contact sockets; the brand name is moulded into the grey plastic. The cable is 30 cm long and runs straight into the plug.
Once the connection is established, the Jaltest software reaches the machine computer MCM and the engine control unit fitted in the machine. Genie installs various engines, so behind the same connector you will find the Perkins controls 404D/404F and ECM Perkins, the Deutz controls EMR4 (EDC 17 CV52/CV54) and EMR5 (EDC MD1), the E-CDIS from Kubota, the EControls ECM 4G from the petrol and LPG versions or the 854E from the heavier telehandlers. On the S-series, the instrument panel ALC-500 is added; the cable works with Jaltest Link V8.1 and V9.

Applications and functionality
Via this connection you access with the Jaltest software the control units of the boom lift, scissor lift or telehandler. Behind the 5-pin connector is always fitted with the machine control unit MCM and, depending on the engine installed, one of the engine control units listed below. The units below are covered by Jaltest's MHE coverage .
Control units you can access
- MCM, machine control unit: The main machine control unit of boom lifts and scissor lifts, with fault codes, measured values and ECU data.
- 404D/404F (J1939 and PDL), engine control unit: The Perkins control system for smaller diesel engines.
- ECM Perkins (Tier 3 and Stage III A), diesel engine control with common rail injection: The Perkins control system for telehandlers.
- EMR4 - EDC 17 CV52 and CV54 and EMR5 - EDC MD1, diesel engine control with common rail injection: The Deutz engine control systems.
- E-CDIS, diesel engine control with common rail injection: The Kubota engine control system.
- EControls ECM 4G, engine control unit: The control system for petrol and LPG versions.
- 854E (J1939), diesel engine control with common rail injection: The engine control system for heavy-duty telehandlers.
- ALC-500, instrument panel: The instrument panel of the S-series.

Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type is what matters, not the model. This cable fits any Genie machine with the round 5-pin Deutsch connector at the lower control panel. Jaltest covers the following series under MHE coverage; for aerial work platforms and telehandlers there is no OBD requirement, so this connector remains in use on newer machines as well. The exact location of the connection point varies by series.
