\nThe Jaltest JDC609Ais the diagnostic cable forEvinrude-outboard engines with the manufacturer's own 3-pin connector. On the engine side there is a grey 3-pin connectorin a black distribution box; on the interface side, the cable terminates at the16-pin OBD2-connection of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. What makes this particularly noteworthy is the separate power supply: From the same distribution box runs a red and a black wire with battery clamps, which allows you to power the connection directly from the onboard battery.\n
With this connection, the Jaltest equipment reads the engine control and operating electronics from: TheECM from the 1999-2001 EFI engines, the EMM of FICHT RAM and E-TEC engines, the EMM G2 of the E-TEC G2 and the EST, the throttle and shift control of that same G2. The engine controls display the complete function list, up to and including parameters, calibration and reset; with the EST the live data. Evinrude maintained the same diagnostic connector across three engine generations, so a single adapter is sufficient. The cable falls underJaltest Marine.\n

Applications and functionality
Via this connection, you access the engine control unit of the Evinrude outboard motor with Jaltest software and, on the latest generation, the throttle and shift control. Which unit you encounter depends on the engine generation: ECM on EFI blocks, EMM on FICHT RAM and E-TEC, EMM G2 with the E-TEC G2. The control units listed below are covered by Jaltest Marine.
Control units you can access
- EMM, engine control: The engine control module for FICHT RAM and E-TEC engines, including fault codes, measured values, component control, control unit data, parameters, calibration, reset and live data.
- EMM G2, engine control: The same module on the E-TEC G2, with the same comprehensive feature set.
- ECM, engine control: The engine control for EFI engines from 1999-2001, also with fault codes, measured values, component control, parameters, calibration and reset.
- EST, throttle and shift control: The control unit for the control levers on the E-TEC G2, with fault codes, measured values, component control, control unit data, parameters and calibration.
What you can do
- Read fault codes: Access the fault memory of the engine control, with descriptions of detected faults.
- View measured values and monitor live data: Track current sensor readings in real time whilst the engine is running.
- Control components: Operate actuators directly, including for cylinder balance testing.
- Adjust parameters and calibrate: Configure settings and perform calibration procedures.
- Reset maintenance: Reset counters and values after service work on the engine control units.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type is what matters, not the model. This cable fits any Evinrude outboard motor with the 3-pin diagnostic connector. Evinrude maintained this connector across three engine generations, from the EFI-engines from 1999 through to the E-TEC G2. It is identifiable by the grey connector with three pins in the black housing; the engine model number is less significant.
