The Jaltest JDC504A connects the 12-pin diagnostic connector of Deutz engines to the 16-pin OBD2-socket of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the engine side sits a round Amphenol connector with a metal sleeve and a ribbed coupling ring; it houses twelve gold-plated pins spaced well apart in a black holder. This connector is fitted to the engine and located on or beside the engine block. Because Deutz supplies its engines to dozens of machine manufacturers, you will encounter the same connector in machines from various brands. The cable measures 28 to 30 cm in length and runs straight from both connectors.
Once the connection is established, the diagnostic equipment accesses successive generations of Deutz engine control units: EMR2 - EDC, EMR3 - EDC 7 UC31, EMR3 - EDC 16 UC40 and EMR4 - EDC 17 CV52. The difference in coverage lies in maintenance: with the two newest units, service intervals appear alongside fault codes, whilst with the two older units they do not. Component control is not included in the coverage table for any of these control units. The cable falls under Jaltest AGV (agriculture), Jaltest OHW (construction and terrain machinery) and Jaltest MHE (internal transport and forklifts).

Applications and functionality
Using this connection, you can access the Jaltest software to communicate with the engine management of the Deutz engine. Jaltest distinguishes between the successive EMR generations, each with its own functional scope. The units listed below are from the Deutz coverage.
Control units you can access
- EMR2 - EDC, engine control:The older Deutz engine management system, including the 2013 series, with fault codes, measured values and ECU data.
- EMR3 - EDC 7 UC31:The third-generation common rail variant.
- EMR3 - EDC 16 UC40:The second EMR3 variant; this version also includes maintenance intervals within the coverage.
- EMR4 - EDC 17 CV52 Deutz:The current common-rail engine management system, including on the heavier TCD engines.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes:Read the fault memory of the control unit with the fault description, and clear it after repair.
- View measurement values:The current sensor values on the control unit, with the ability to set alarm thresholds for values outside the normal range.
- Maintenance:Engine maintenance intervals can be consulted and associated service work documented in a report. Available for EMR3 - EDC 16 UC40 and EMR4 - EDC 17 CV52.
- Not covered:Component control is not listed in any of the Deutz engine management systems in the table.
