The Jaltest JDC530A connects the 8-pin round diagnostic connector from Claas combine harvesters and the Xerion range to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic cable. On the machine side, there is a compact chrome-plated metal connector with knurled nut and eight gold-plated pins: seven arranged in a circle around one centre pin. The lead measures 28 to 30 cm and the cable is specified for Jaltest Link V8.1.
Behind that single connection lies the engine, transmission and harvest control of the machine. You can access the engine interface ADM 2 / ADM 3, the onboard computers VBM and XIF, the MR unit pump system and Caterpillar engine controls, the transmission controls EHS, GDM, TCU and VDC, the aftertreatment SCR and the threshing controls SAM, RTR, RSM, GUA and YMM. How many of these you encounter varies by model: a MEGA carries only ADM 2/3, the MR engine control and SCR, whilst a LEXION has over twenty units. The cable falls under Jaltest AGV (agricultural vehicles).

Applications and functionality
Via this 8-pin connection, you access the control units of the combine harvester or the Xerion using Jaltest software. Which units are present varies considerably by model and year of manufacture: a MEGA has a handful, a LEXION has around twenty. The units listed below are covered by Jaltest's Claas coverage.
Control units you can access
- Central computer ADM 2 and ADM 3: The interface between the machine management and the engine.
- Central computer VBM and XIF: The on-board computers of the combine harvester and Xerion respectively.
- Engine management MR, unit pump system: The Mercedes-based engine management with unit pump system.
- Engine management ECM Caterpillar 3126 B, C-6.6, C-9, C-9.3 and C-13 (CDL and J1939): The Caterpillar engine management systems for LEXION and Xerion models.
- Transmission EHS, GDM, TCU and VDC: The drive transmission and transmission management.
- Harvesting system ACU, SAM (sieve management), RTR (rotor shutters), RSM (spreader), GUA (grain tank shutters) and YMM (yield measurement): The threshing process control units.
- Exhaust gas aftertreatment SCR/DEF and SCR Bluetec: The AdBlue systems of newer machines.
- ATP control (track guidance via GPS) and ESM (electro-hydraulic steering): The steering and track guidance systems.
- Hydraulics EHC (lift device) and HYD (valve control panel), electronic module OPM (armrest control) and EXT, and lighting WLP: The remaining units of the Xerion and combine harvesters.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes: Read the fault memory of the control unit, with a description of the detected fault.
- View measured values: The current values of the sensors controlled by the control unit, with the option to set alarm thresholds.
- Check maintenance intervals: Available with, among others, Caterpillar engine controls and the SCR Bluetec system.
- View diagnostic warnings: Available with, among others, the ADM 2 interface and the MR engine control.
- Perform additional actions: Available with the SCR Bluetec exhaust gas aftertreatment system.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type determines compatibility, not the model. This cable fits any Claas combine harvester and Xerion with the 8-pin round diagnostic connector in the cab. The following series are covered by Jaltest AGV; within the same series, the 7-pin version is also available, as agriculture has never adopted a standardised connector specification.
