The Jaltest Marine adapter cable set Vessel (70002008) contains thirteen cables that connect the manufacturer-specific diagnostic connector of a marine engine to your Jaltest diagnostic cable. The set covers inboard engines from Volvo Penta, Mercury and Yanmar and outboard engines from Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Evinrude.

The set includes the cables of the inboard set and the outboard set, plus the 8-pin Suzuki connector (JDC613A). Only the Evinrude NMEA 2000 branch cable (JDC628A) from the outboard set is missing. Mercury is covered with four cables, as that brand has used various control systems over the years, from MEFI to SmartCraft G3. The cables fall under Jaltest Marine.

POINTS TO NOTE

✕For the JDC604.9, the JDC609.9 and the JDC614A, you need the extension cable JDC100B with a Jaltest Link V9.
✕The JDC628A (Evinrude NMEA 2000) is not included in this set, but only in the outboard set 70002025.
✕Personal watercraft require their own cable set: 29985, which includes the connectors of BRP Sea-Doo and Kawasaki and the IMMO adapters.
✕The marine market has dozens of manufacturer-specific connectors and not every engine is covered by this set. Check the plug fitted to the engine itself before ordering.

Applications and functions

Each cable in this set converts a manufacturer-specific diagnostic connector to the standard connector of the Jaltest Link. What you can do next is determined by the Jaltest software and the coverage table for that engine. The set combines the inboard and outboard sides, so you do not have to choose between the two on a jobsite.

How to use it

  1. Check the connector: Look at the engine to see which connector is fitted.
  2. Choose the cable: Select the cable that matches that connector.
  3. Connect: To your diagnostic cable, via the JDC100B if required.
  4. Start the software: Open Jaltest on the PC and connect the Link.
  5. Read out: Select brand and engine in Jaltest Marine.

Compatible vehicles and applications

The engine is what counts, not the boat. A marine engine is installed as a standalone drive, so the same diagnostic connector appears in hulls from different yards.

Inboard engines:

  • Volvo Penta: Inboard engines and sterndrives, with the 6-pin, EGCI and 2-pin connectors.
  • Mercury: Inboard and outboard engines, from MEFI control to SmartCraft G3.
  • Yanmar: Marine engines with the 3-pin connector.

Outboard engines:

  • Honda: With the 4-pin connector.
  • Suzuki: With the 4-pin and with the 8-pin connector.
  • Yamaha: With the 3-pin connection.
  • Evinrude: Outboard motors from Evinrude.

Good to know: A boat may have several control units on board: the engine management, the instrument bus and sometimes a separate control module. Which cable you need depends on the system you want to read. Check on the engine itself which connector is fitted before ordering.
