\nThe Jaltest MDC12 is the diagnostic cable for speed sensors and connects the inductance wheel speed sensor for ABSwith the16-pin OBD2-connection for the Jaltest ETM. This type of sensor has two connections, and that's why the title specifies 2-pins ABS: the speed sensor and ABS sensor are the same component here. It's not a standard cable but a adapter with its own housingFrom the black box marked Jaltest MDC12, the 16-pin OBD2 connector protrudes directly on one side. On the other side runs ashort cable to a small round 2-pin connector. You connect it directly to the sensor, not to the vehicle's diagnostic connector.\n

\nWith this connection, you can access the Jaltest ETM the sensor loose from the control unit and builds the communication itself. This way you can determine whether the sensor genuine fault is, or that the cause lies in the wiring or the control unit lies. In addition to this cable, you will need the ETM unit itself, with a ETM licence and an ongoing CV or Modular software licence.\n

KEY BENEFITS

Connect directly to the speed sensor, the inductance wheel speed sensor for ABS, so you don't need to improvise with loose test leads.
The ETM assumes the role of the control unit over, allowing you to assess the sensor independently from the rest of the installation.
Prevents unnecessary replacement: if the sensor is functioning correctly, the fault lies elsewhere.
Creates a End of Line test if required, confirming that the sensor is functioning correctly.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Works exclusively with the Jaltest ETM; this cable is not intended for vehicle diagnostics via the Jaltest Link.
Requires a ETM licence alongside an active CV or Modular software licence; other modules cannot be combined with the ETM.
The ETM does not work on the Jaltest handheld devices; you operate it from a PC or laptop.
The sister cables MDC10 and MDC11have the same black box and the same 16-pin OBD2 connector, but on the engine side around 3-pin connector for the brake pad wear sensorThe number of pins is the difference: two for the speed sensor, three for the wear sensor.

Applications and functionality

Via this cable, the Jaltest ETMdirectly with thepart, without intermediary control unit of the vehicle. Below you will find which components the ETM reaches in that way and what you can workshop with it establish.

What the Jaltest ETM covers

  • Wabco EBS modulators: First, second and third generation.
  • Knorr-Bremse EBS modulators: Second and third generation.
  • Knorr-Bremse trailer modulators: The control modules of the trailer brake system.
  • Inductive wheel speed sensors: The speed sensors of ABS and EBS systems.
  • Brake pad wear sensors: The sensors that monitor brake pad thickness.

What you can do

  • Approach the component in isolation: The ETM takes over the role of the control unit and communicates directly with the component.
  • Determine whether the component is actually faulty: If the component works, the fault lies elsewhere in the system.
  • Perform an End of Line test (EOL): The check that confirms the component is functioning correctly.

What you need for this

  • Jaltest ETM: The test module itself. For the Jaltest Link V9, that is the ETM interface with reference 70001007; the complete ETM kit is 70001008.
  • ETM licence: Without this licence, the ETM will not start. The annual renewal has reference 29701.
  • An active Jaltest software licence: A CV licence or a Modular licence. Other modules cannot be combined with the ETM.
  • Power supply: The ETM is powered from the vehicle batteries.
💡
Good to know: Hardware, software and usage rights of the ETM run in line with the expiry date of your Jaltest software licence. If that licence runs for longer than a year, you only pay for the remaining period. Once the Jaltest licence expires, the ETM will not work until it is renewed. Check first how long your Jaltest licence runs before you order.
