The Jaltest MDC12 is the test cable for speed sensors. It connects the inductive wheel speed sensor of the ABS to the 16-pin OBD2 connector of the Jaltest ETM. Such a sensor has two connections, which is what 2-pin ABS in the title refers to. Speed sensor and ABS sensor are the same component here.
The cable is an adapter with a black housing marked Jaltest MDC12. One end has the OBD2 plug protruding directly from the housing, while the other end has a short cable running to a round 2-pole connector. You connect this directly to the sensor, not to the vehicle's diagnostic socket. The ETM then sets up the communication itself, so you can see whether the sensor, the wiring or the control unit is the cause.

Applications and functions
Via this cable the Jaltest ETM communicates directly with the component, without the involvement of the vehicle's control unit. With the MDC12 you reach the wheel speed sensor; with the other ETM cables the ETM also covers modulators and wear sensors.

How to use it
- Start the software: Open Jaltest with the ETM on the PC.
- Clear the sensor: Disconnect the plug of the speed sensor.
- Connect: Fit the 2-pole connector to the sensor.
- Connect the ETM: Insert the OBD2 end into the ETM.
- Test: Select the sensor test in the ETM.
Compatible devices and applications
The component determines compatibility, not the vehicle. The MDC12 is intended for inductive wheel speed sensors with a round 2-pole connection and works only with the Jaltest ETM on a Jaltest Link V8.1 or V9. Below is shown which ETM cable belongs to which component.
Cables for the Jaltest ETM:
- MDC02 to MDC09: EBS modulators from Knorr-Bremse and Wabco.
- MDC12 and MDC13: Speed sensors.
- MDC10, MDC11 and MDC14: Brake pad wear sensors.
- MDC100.9: Adapter cable for an earlier ETM version.
What you need
- Jaltest ETM: The test module for components. For the Jaltest Link V9 this is the ETM interface 70001007; the complete ETM kit is 70001008.
- ETM licence: The ETM does not start without this licence. The annual renewal has reference 29701.
- Current Jaltest software licence: A CV licence or a Modular licence. Other modules cannot be combined with the ETM.
- PC or laptop: The ETM does not work on Jaltest handhelds.
