De Jaltest JDCOBD6 zet de oudere OBD2-protocollen PWM en VPW om naar CAN. Hij vertaalt de vorm van de communicatie: Het voertuig praat SAE J1850, de Jaltest Link krijgt CAN aangeboden. U plaatst hem tussen de diagnoseaansluiting van het voertuig en de 16-pins OBD2-diagnosekabel van de Link.

PWM en VPW zijn de twee varianten van SAE J1850, het protocol dat in de eerste jaren van OBD2 naast de latere CAN-bus werd gebruikt. U herkent ze aan de aansluiting: J1850 werkt over pen 2 (PWM gebruikt daarnaast pen 10), CAN ligt op de pennen 6 en 14. Is pen 2 bezet en blijven 6 en 14 leeg, dan is deze omzetting nodig.

PLUSPUNTEN

✔Zet de oudere SAE J1850 PWM- en VPW-communicatie om naar CAN, zodat de Jaltest Link ermee overweg kan.
✔Dekt beide J1850-varianten af, dus u hoeft niet vooraf te bepalen of het om PWM of om VPW gaat.

AANDACHTSPUNTEN

✕Voertuigen die al over CAN communiceren, met de pennen 6 en 14 bezet, hebben deze omzetting niet nodig.
✕Hij vervangt de OBD2-diagnosekabel niet: Hij wordt ertussen geplaatst en werkt niet los van die kabel.
✕Alleen bruikbaar op de 16-pins OBD2-aansluiting. Een merkeigen OBD1-stekker vraagt een andere adapter.
✕De lengte en de vereiste Link-versie zijn voor deze uitvoering niet opgegeven.

Via deze omvormer benadert u met de Jaltest-software de regeleenheden van een voertuig dat nog via SAE J1850 praat. De omzetting betreft alleen de vorm van de communicatie; welke systemen u ziet, volgt uit de Jaltest-dekking voor dat voertuig.
