The Jaltest JDC517A is the diagnostic cable for the older 8-pin connector on Valtra and Valmet tractors; the cable adapts that connector to the 16-pin OBD2 port of your Jaltest diagnostic interface. On the vehicle side sits the 8-pin connector, which plugs into the cab, and on the interface side the 16-pin OBD2. Valtra and Valmet share this proprietary diagnostic connector.
With this connection, Jaltest equipment reads the engine control unit EEM2 - VP30/VP44, the engine electronics with distributor injection pump that Valtra and Valmet used before common rail technology arrived. For these models, the EEM2 is the only control unit that Jaltest supports: transmission, hydraulics and instrument cluster are not included. Agricultural vehicles have no legal OBD requirement, which is why this 8-pin connector remained in use alongside the newer 16-pin connection. The cable falls under Jaltest AGV (agricultural vehicles).

Through this 8-pin connection, you can access the tractor's engine control unit using Jaltest software.
Control units you can access
- Engine management EEM2 - VP30/VP44, distributor-type diesel injection pump: The electronic engine control with distributor injection pump; the only control unit that Jaltest supports for these Valtra and Valmet models.
What you can do
- Read and clear fault codes: Access the fault memory of the control unit, including descriptions of detected faults.
- View live data: Monitor current sensor values controlled by the engine control unit, with the ability to set alarm thresholds.
- Check service intervals: Review scheduled maintenance and required work, with a report for workshop records.
Compatible vehicles and applications
The connector type determines compatibility, not the model. This cable fits any Valtra or Valmet with the older 8-pin diagnostic connector. The Jaltest AGV coverage includes the series listed below; check which connector is installed in your cab on-site.
