The Jaltest JDC40AM2 is the power supply adapter for trailer diagnostics via the 7-pin PLC connector (SAE J2497); it connects to that port on the trailer. The adapter supplies power to your diagnostic setup when working on a disconnected trailer with no tractor connected to provide power. You use it together with the Jaltest Link and the corresponding PLC diagnostic cable; that cable handles the actual communication with the trailer's electrical systems.
With power supplied to the trailer's electronics, the control units on the trailer become accessible for reading and testing, even without a tractor connected: On the workshop floor or during maintenance on a disconnected trailer. Which systems and diagnostic functions you can access depends on the brand, the system, and your active license. The adapter is used within Jaltest CV (commercial vehicles), trailer diagnostics module.
