The OBDSTAR DC706 is an ECU programmer that does one thing exceptionally well: cloning control modules. It allows a replacement module to inherit the data from the original, enabling the vehicle to accept it. This can be accomplished via five different methods — through OBD, on the bench, in boot mode, via BDM or via JTAG — and across four types of modules: engine management, transmission, body and motorcycle.
The device is a 7-inch Android tablet powered by a RK3128 quad-core ARM Cortex A7, featuring 16 GB storage and a 3700 mAh battery. The database is comprehensive: over 2,050 ECM types, 510 TCM types and 180 body control and other modules, including airbag, BCM, BSI, CEM, DDM/PDM, DIM, EPS, keyless, KVM, RFA and SAM. You can also read and write EEPROM, dflash, pflash and map files, reset a module to factory condition, correct the mileage, and retrieve the immobiliser PIN code. We supply the Full version, which includes the P004 adapter, the BENCH B-V2 cable and the complete jumper set.

IMPORTANT NOTES
✕Some functions require the P003 or MP001 adapter. OBDSTAR makes this clear in the documentation, including for the BRP ME17.8.5. This adapter is not included.
✕This is not a diagnostic tool. There is no full system diagnostics with live data and actuator tests; the DC706 is designed for programming and cloning work.
✕Bench work is involved. For boot, BDM and JTAG operations, the module must be removed from the vehicle and soldering is required.
✕Always work with a backup. Writing to a control module cannot always be reversed; read and save the original contents first.

Read and write EEPROM, dflash, pflash and map: Access the different memory areas of a control module separately.
Reset a module to virgin state: Set the ECU to virgin so it can be re-learned.
Correct mileage: Adjust the stored reading, including VW DQXXX transmission controllers.
Read immobiliser PIN code: Extract the PIN code from the module as a basis for key programming.
ECU recovery: Restore a module that has become stuck during processing.
Search and automatic recognition: By make, model, part number, ECU manufacturer or MCU type; the device also recognises the module itself.

Supported vehicle makes
The control module in the vehicle is what matters, not the make alone. OBDSTAR divides DC706 coverage across five separate lists. A make that appears in the ECM list may not appear in the transmission list — so check the specific operation you need. Each list is shown below by region and in alphabetical order.

MP001 Kit: The multifunctional programmer supplied by OBDSTAR specifically for the DC706. Required for certain EEPROM and MCU operations, and with twelve I/O ports suitable for SIMOS 18.
P003 Kit: The predecessor to the MP001. OBDSTAR specifically references this adapter for cloning the BRP ME17.8.5 and for certain ECM functions.
C4-09 Adapter Kit: For the MB91F526 controller in body modules of Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Fiat and Jeep. Works in conjunction with the MP001.
Soldering tools: For boot, BDM and JTAG operations where wires are connected to chip contact points.
Licence information
Duration: One year of software updates from first activation, plus remote support via TeamViewer with purchase.
What updates include: New ECU, TCM and body control modules in the database, new vehicles, additional protocols and corrections.
After completion: The device will continue to operate with the last installed version; new modules and features will only be added again after renewal.
Renewal: With the OBDSTAR DC706 update licence, available separately in our online shop.
💡
Good to know:Always read and save the original content of a module before writing to it. A failed write operation cannot be reversed without a backup, and you will lose the module. Additionally, register the device online before you start and update it fully via WiFi; the ECU type database grows with every update.
